You're correct [MENTION=6008]akshay[/MENTION] and I'll keep that suggestion in mind. This is one of the reasons why I shall wait upto September 2016 before buying the bike so that I can get comprehensive ownership reviews about R3 and then make a thorough comparison (with no glorifications)...

            OT:

Earlier vBulletin supported only 1 video per post. That was a technical limitation due to the use of "link content type", you could add only one video per post.
In the later iterations, Vbulletin introduced BBcode for embedding videos, which support up to 6 videos (Vimeo, YouTube etc). This is again by design to enable seamless HTML request and response generation.
However, VBulletin says that the site administrator has control upon setting this pre-defined limit depending upon the site load. There should be an option somewhere in the Control Panel.

Going by all the available suggestions, I feel R3 should suit my purpose. It appears to be a good tourer with a refined engine and also light on my pocket. But for touring purpose, what are the accessories I should go in for? Any suggestions on that? Also, do the accessories disbalance the bike while touring?

You can go for tank bags and side bags from reputed brands like viaterra, rynox, etc. Or you can choose tank bags. Normally, these do not disbalance you enough to cause a worry. Taller windscreens could also help. A more comfortable seat (add on to the regular seat) will also help for long tours.
Depending on your requirements, you could add phone chargers and all too. They're available off Amazon for cheap enough. For GPS, you can get phone mounts installed on the bike, which hold the phone.

For Long term touring, you could consider more serious modifications like clipon lift up, etc.

The first functional accessory you should target is a frame slider. Believe me it has saved my faring and other parts from damage many a times.

A performance air filter also goes a long way to improve performance and sound.

For luggage I use two setups. The first and preferred one is a combination of a tank bag and tail bag for typically 2 day trips and second is a tank bag and claw bag setup for anything longer. Both setups are for solo touring.

                    Hello all,

I really gained a lot of info from this thread as I am in similar shoes as OP
                    1. I am upgrading from TVS Apache Vibrator
                    2. will buy in Q3 this year
                    3. need a bike completely devoid of any vibrations
                    4. Usage will be mostly weekend touring
                    5. Not really concerned about bike being head turner but would expect top notch build quality.

So I just had one question to the experts, with the introduction of Benelli Tornado 302, does the equations change? And secondly, from what I have read, the Benelli Tornado will be cheaper ex showroom compared to N3 or R3. So doesn't that make it more of a value for money bike rather than a premium bike as suggested? Please pardon my inexperience and would appreciate if someone throws light on this.

Benelli is easy to buy butttt expensive to maintain.. n300 is expensive to buy and maintain.. r3 is wee bit expensive to buy but relatively easier to maintain in the long run..

Okay. But are you talking about preventive maintenance? Like when I replace stuff due to wear and tear. Or is it sourcing parts in case of failures expensive in Benelli?

Also does the premium brand (Benelli) translate into better build quality than the Japanese counterparts? By build quality, I mean lack of vibrations?

Hi [MENTION=50946]arunsekhar1[/MENTION]. As far as the build quality of Benelli TNT300 is considered, its really good. You won't complain on this aspect. Owners have said that you won't feel any "Chinese" quality materials being used in the bike. The switches, frame, etc. feel top notch. The bike is quite heavy and that also adds to its balancing on the roads and highways. But in the ownership reviews, I had read that the bike has several issues (quite serious ones including bike stalling on highways which none of us would want, or quality of chain which wants replacement after around 6-8k kms). In another site (sorry I don't remember the name) it was mentioned that although Benelli is Italian at heart, but it lags behind its Japanese counterparts in terms of quality, maintenance and overall performance. No doubt Benelli is a premium bike. Although it's cost of acquisition is less, but overall maintenance costs (costs of service, spare parts, time taken for receipt of spare parts, service interval, etc.) are high as compared to R3 (and may be N3 too; am not very sure of that).

Now coming to R3, have seen it in flesh and found quality oozing from all sides. It's tad costlier to Benelli but you get slightly more bhp and displacement and lesser weight (which makes it easy to manoeuvre in traffic as well as on highways). From the maintenance angle, I already have an R15 - 2009 model and even after 6 years of ownership, the total amount I pay after its service is between 1000 and 1500. So I don't think R3 shall be costlier to maintain too. The service intervals of R3 are distantly placed as against Benelli and spares are comparatively easily available. In R3 ownership thread you'll find that first service has costed owners around Rs. 1600-1900 as against Benelli's Rs. 3500 & above. Since you're graduating from Apache, you'll feel it ultra smooth too (with all due respect to Apache bike and it's owners!!).

Tornado appears good but is yet to hit our shores. However, I would rather wait for at least 8-10 months and go through the comprehensive ownership review of the bike before I think of booking one so that I can have a complete know how of the problems that any newly launched bike faces. Even the companies evaluate those feedbacks and improve upon their products. So, if you are buying any bike from the first lot, you may have some issues but normally they are taken care of in the subsequent lots. Again, due to higher maintenance costs of Benelli, it might actually not be a very VFM bike as against the other bikes discussed above and eventually you might end up paying the same costs or even higher.

About N3, SORRY BRO but not having much knowledge. Again, from the reviews only I found it to be on the costlier side (purchase-wise, maintenance-wise) with performance offered on slightly higher rpm as compared to others. But undoubtedly it's a proven bike not just locally but globally as well.

Ultimately it boils down to your requirements and how much your pocket allows for fulfilling them. But make sure that you do take care of the beauty so that it keeps taking you to places...

                            Keep sharing your thoughts too!!

P.S.: I ain't no techie or an expert bro. So please correct me if am wrong anywhere...

Everything is on the expensive side.. short service intervals and high cost per service more or less negate the amount saved while buying a r3

                                which bike? Ninja/R3/benelli 300

                                Hi guys!

Coming to this thread again makes me kinda nostalgic. The last time i came here to ask about what bike should i choose between 220 and R15. Anyways, lets cut the chase.
I have ridden the 220 for past 5 years now. And she is still brand new. However, now after all this while, i am looking for a change. With a budget of upto 5lacs, i am again spoilt for a choice between these three bikes: the Ninja, the R3 and the benelli 300. My requirement would be mostly city riding and occasional touring.

Please be my savior and advise me which one would be the best for me.

P.S. I have just TD'ed the benelli, yamaha is next and the obnoxious fact that ninjas aren't available for test rides isn't helping.

                                Please advise. Thanks in advance.
