    Tourer: HMC ZMR or Honda CBR250r (2016)!!!

    Hi all,

    I decided to buy a tourer within this diwali... (i am from chennai)

    Budget 2l (On Road)

    Age 34

    Height 5'10"

    Weight 82

    Fuel Efficiency requirement (approx., if any) 40kmpl+

    City & Highway percentage usage 80-20

    Approximate Monthly running 1000-1200kms

    My Need: Reliable Machine & reasonable maintanence (not too costly on spares)...

    My Choices: HMC ZMR or Honda CBR250r C- ABS (2016)

    My budget: within 2 lakhs..

    HMC ZMR:

    I almost completed "Motorcycle Ownership Experiences " thread for HMC ZMR 2014, and i observe so many complaints against 2014 version...

    And i started to love ZMR when i saw the ZMR 2010 version... so the looks was also not in my taste (when compared 2010 version)

    CBR 250R:

    No cons except price and maintence cost...

    Please post your suggestions...

          Any reason for wanting a Fuel Injected engine? And I doubt the ZMR would give you 40+, and the CBR almost definitely wouldnt.

            Well, at the moment I can't comment on the ZMR as the 2014 models had some problems.. Not all but some of them.. my friend rides a 2014 ZMR and till now no problems.. he has done more than 25K kms.. but few have faced problems with the bike.. in 2015, they made some slight changes i believe.. But my suggestion would be to stay away from it for the time being..

            You can blindly go for the CBR250R.. if you can get the ABS version, it would be even better in terms of safety.. On the other hand, maintenance could be an issue.. I don't own a CBR so I can't comment on it..

            I do own the 2010 ZMR and it is a beauty in disguise..

                I currently owned a discover 125, so no another one from bajaj...

                I learned that from xbhp, zmr and cbr 250r are the only tourers available in india (except royal enfield) within the price bracket of 2 lac

                      On the keyboard, everyone will rate the CBR better. It just is. Obviously the initial cost of CBR is more, but then you will love the bike for it. It is a very capable machine in every way. Overall maintenance cost in the long term will be equal between the two. I heard the brake pads of the Hero cost about the same as the CBR.

                      Also highly recommend the ABS version of CBR.

                      In the end, if you want to save a few bucks, then no question, go for the Hero.

                      Test ride both the bikes and choose the one your heart wants.

                        I own a cbr250 std and I can say maintenance is quite cheap. In 3 Years of ownership I faced a leaking front fork seal, and two fused bulbs. my tyres lasted 24k rear, and front Contigo I'm gonna change at 26k. I'm still at stock chainset at 25k kms.

                        Some owners reported shim changes at 24k, but I haven't had that problem. Anyways, it just costs around ₹1-2k for shim change.

                        Brake pads for the non abs version was 825 2 years back. My front pads changed at 18k, and rear still locking up the tyre at 25k.

                        Engine oil depends on your preference - ranges from ₹1500 for FS engine oil to ₹500 for the Honda mineral.

                        Mileage varies from 26-45 depending on riding style.

                          I would suggest with the CBR 250R just for the ABS. But i doubt it'll be able to give 40kmpl.
