Why would one buy the same motorcycle again? OP has stated he wanted an upgrade, let's stick to his requirements. Always go for the most powerful motorcycle you can afford, all other things being equal.

I am not interested with any 150cc anymore, need atleast 25bhp & 20+Nm.Originally posted by jetsetgo08 View PostOn a different note, why not Fazer-FI ? It is not an upgrade, but it can help you in high-altitude touring. Returns good mileage for city rides.Regards

Re: Is CBR250R is a good choice within 2 Lakh!!
I am an ex Yamaha fzs owner & my fz's bore kit and valves were completely damaged at 32k kms, i was kind of shocked to see white smoke coming from my Bike's exhaust. I always used semi synthetic oils & synthetic oils for my bike, even then this happened. I had to get the new valves, new piston/piston rings and got the cylinder rebore done.Originally posted by Sal View Post_
Piston rings replacement on a Yamaha at 30k kms? Those are Bajaj standards man!
Anyways regarding your what bike question, it actually depends what are you going to use the bike for. Also its not like one cannot manage a full faired bike in traffic, if you want to you can.
But remember, don't think that since you were easily able to handle the fazer in traffic you will be able to handle the CBR250 in a similar way. Fazer has the same turning radius and handle of the FZ making it a very flickable semi faired bike. CBR has clip-ons and has a much higher turning radius.
There are many bikes which fall under your price segment, you will have to provide more details for us to advice you better.(Check What bike: posting guidelines thread) below are the list of bikes to choose from :
R15
Pulsar RS200
KTM 200/390
CBR250
Many options in the naked/semi too:
TNT 250
Mojo
Himalayan
Pulsar AS200
KTM 200/390
Reason for damage of bore kit & valves : i always redlined the bike, especially in first and second gear, sometimes i did 80+ kmph in third gear.
And the main point is that it all depends on how we ride, and i would like to say to you, Bajaj standards are also good, (my younger brother owns a pulsar 220 and it has done 53k kms, zero repairs of borekit, valves, nor he replaced clutch plates, he always rides it without redlining it, uses good oils like Elf Moto-4 Xt tech fully synthetic, Motul 7100 fully synthetic)
Yes you may sometimes have head gasket problems even in new in Bajaj bikes, but bajaj engines are not bad!
I have also attached the photo of piston of my 32k kms done fz.
Please dont mind if you find the bike's tyre in dusty condition/chain in oily condition, actually, the bike returned from a long ride.

Re: Is CBR250R is a good choice within 2 Lakh!!
You can go through my previous post regarding Yamaha fz's engine damage, my Fz too is a Victim of borekit damage, valve damage in just 31k kmsOriginally posted by saikatbyte View PostActually my Yamaha Fazer 153cc is now 30k kms on odo. Daily commute to office in Kolkata city traffic and frequent Highway Trips have been served very well with Yamaha Refined Motor, but it is asking too much maintenance (Tyre, Disc, Clutch plates, Piston rings, Valves, etc etc) in recent days, so I want to switch to a bigger cc with comfortable posture and reliable machine.
Honda CBR250R is very refined and reliable Honda badge is always a plus point. Gixxer 250 is also on the upcoming bike lists. Do I wait for Gixxer 250 or buy CBR? Any other suggestions are welcome. I prefer fully faired. I am slim 5 ft 6 inch guy.
As as per your upgrade, the Honda Cbr 250 is a perfect upgrade & the most practical buy in 2 lakh range.
The seating posture may seem a bit hard to get used to. But once you are used to it, you will enjoy every ride on the Cbr 250.
Do not forget, Cbr has been a tourer's choice since a long time.
The refined engine with smooth power delivery, a strain-free riding posture the maintenance is not that expensive.
I suggest you to go for the ABS one.
Its a 100% value for money bike.
But if you can set yourself to a more stylish machine, with a more sporty riding posture, with almost similar maintenance figures, the Rc 200 is waiting for you

Cbr is always a good choice but IF you can wait, bmw would be launching mid way or later this year, and see how it pans out//
