The Z250 is older than the N300. If your budget is fixed at 2.5 then your only option are the KTMs.

If you are ok with a pre-owned motorcycle then and only then can you get any of the twins in the 2.5 range.

    You can get a Ninja250(essentially a Z250) for about 1.5. You can get an used Ninja 300/TNT 300 for about 2.5 - 3.0.

No used R3 or Z250 available..
When I'm on the road, I'm indestructible. No one can stop me... but they try.

Both Kawasaki's are good and proven but N300 is getting old and Z250 looks awesome but expensive.
I would personally prefer Duke 390 even thought it may phase out next year its the most refined one and never looks old in any angle and you can save money and buy some gear too.
What do you wish to convey when you say it's getting old
It still holds true to its "best selling quarter litre bike " tag.
Its hardly 2.5 years old and still design is futuristic and a real head turner.
It looks hot and performance has been proven time and again.
"Duke has the most refined engine" really?
If it has not for vfm duke and rcs can't be compared to n300 or r3 as those being twins and more refined with less vibes and better ALL ROUND performance.
Dont wish to sound like a ninja fanboy but its any day better than duke dude.

First of all you don't have to be disrespectful I never said anything about you , and try to have a conversation like an adult do you really think I don't know the difference between twin cylinder and single cylinder ? Even if I don't then you don't have to be harsh about it.
And I never said that duke is more refined than Ninja I said its getting phased out but its the most refined one i.e. that whatever problems that duke had in the first batch when it came all of those are taken care including addition of slipper clutch.
Check any motorcycle website like MCN or motorcyle USA or motorcycle.com they all agree with me saying ninja is getting old they all recommend 390 or R3 as good starter bikes. As far as "best selling quarter litre bike " I don't care because I buy things that I like and especially bike is a very personal choice.

          First things first
I wasn't disrespectful and its a normal discussion where i disagree with the points you mentioned.
Secondly instead of going through paid reviews it's better to rely on honest ownership reviews which we can easily find on our forum
I have been through all 3 bike's reviews and my opinion is based on those.
There are hardly any niggles or issues with ninja 300. Rc/duke owners however keep complain about multiple issues.
R3 is a new contender and its being the first batch there are some issues in r3 too. Those however will be resolved in next increments.
Nothing against you , just different opinions.
          Peace !!

Planning a new bike which fits good with daily traffic commutes & weekend rides...

Was taking reads on below bikes for some time..

            1) Kawasaki Ninja300(admired this several times in traffic)
            2) Benelli TNT300(Like it when i had test drive)
            3) KTM Duke 390(Loved its power)
& Finally Kawasaki Z250(liked this bike more since it has attractive Z design lang)

Pls advise which might suit well & slipping out little cash from my pocket...including maintenance cost & stuff...

1)The N300 is a great bike but not for the price for what it is available+more service cost
2)TNT300 firing is good but it lacks excitement(not in terms of looks)
3)Duke 390 Great looks + most power of the lot+ low maintenance cost
4)z250 Can't say anything because i have neither driven nor seen much

Go for the Duke390 and you will only be sad when you see a Ninja or TNT300 with a free flow exhaust (both being parallel twin) but when you can smoke them in terms pickup.

Picking a bike is like to go for the heart or the brain (but always go for the heart)

Being in the same boat as you are (or were)

I am just curious to know, which bike did you finally decide to go for?

              Cheers!
