Which one do you have? How is your experience with TVS Apache? How many kms/years have you own it?

I heard it has low mileage and high cost spare parts. How, much true?

Mine is old white RTR 180 non ABS. have done almost 65k kms in 5.5years. If people say it spare parts costs are high then they are living in wrong time.

I would rather suggest go to the respective ownership threads and then test riding the bikes for better decision making.

That's good time with a bike and I think you sound confident about bike's performance, so you must be happy. What mileage are you getting in normal city conditions? Any major issues with its engine?

I actually went to ownership thread, but failed to find one for RTR 160.

Also, I believe that ownership thread of some bikes are more than 5 years old and 500+ pages. While it tells you about the popularity of that particular machine; it gets really difficult for anyone to go though a thread having 500+ pages. Maybe xBhp should do something about this.

For test drive, I went to nearest TVS dealer, but they weren't interested in providing a TD bike, saying they don't have one. Also, I believe they are quoting a wrong OTR price, they say 89K+ OTR for 160 rear disc. Didn't provide any breakup, saying we'll give it later, don't have now. I don't know how they arrived at this price.

As per TVS official site, ex-showroom price in Patna is 75K+ only. So, OTR should be around 83-84K, I believe.

They called me today morning and asked for purchase decision, and I rejected them plainly.

I had my share of ups and down (mainly because of my mistakes).
Regarding your experience with showroom and use the tvs site to mail a complaint explaining in detail and see the magic post that.

Re: Style vs/& performance. Which one should I get?

Sometimes we want too many things at a cheaper price. I suggest you pick a bike that your heart goes with. Others can only share their opinions. I too never thought about Apache Rtr as my first bike. But I ended up getting one in 2008. Sometimes you instantly connect with a bike. It maybe due to your riding style predominantly and secondly your inclination and lastly your requirement. Figure this out within yourself. You will end up with a bike that you will fall in love with. Remember that there are too many options available these days and I understand it can get difficult to choose. After buying a bike also there will be many more models coming through which you wish you had. This is human nature. We will always crave for more. So don't worry, you are the better judge of yourself. Go ahead and buy the bike of your choice. And most importantly enjoy every second of it. There will always be someone who has better bike than yours and probably millions worser than yours. Just accept it gracefully. Just look around you and see it for yourself. Yes I know this is no way related to your query, but I can little bit relate to your dilemma and maybe offer a few words of encouragement. Being a biker should be more important than the bike itself. This is my simple philosophy in life.

              My Suggestions: Karizma R/Apache 200 4v/Unicorn models.
Everybody has their own version of TRUTH!!!!!!

Re: Style vs/& performance. Which one should I get?

I think only Hero Hunk seems to be feasible for my needs.
But, why is it not so popular now-a-days?

Will buying Hunk or Xtreme Sports be a good choice now?

                  Hello all.
I have already posted a thread regarding my requirements for a bike. Link here
                  HTML Code:
                  http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/what-bike/34564-style-vs-performance-one-should-i-get.html
Now, somehow, I didn't find any ~150 CC suitable for me for one reason or other, except Hero Hunk and Xtreme/Sports.

However, I haven't seen much enthusiasm in people for these bikes.

Even, in XBHP, people neither keep these bikes as their option while choosing a bike, nor anyone suggests them.
                  Why so?

Whether, it would be OK to go for these bikes now?

Why just attack me ? There are many people who have commented here,Divya,Why not attack them ? Reliability is considered for the thread starter and It's hard to recommend Bajaj for long term reliability. It's a bit easier to recommend TVS as you can still see their First gen 50cc XL/Champ Mopeds which are 25 years old are still running.Same goes to Honda and Suzuki (Including Yamaha,See how the RX aged,Still running great today),They are Japanese,King of quality and and reliability in Indian bikes.I recommended them too.

RTR 200 is a good bike for the thread starter.Well designed,Good Performance. It's just an opinion from my side.

I'm a long time fan of TVS.TVS doesn't pay me.I'm a member of xBhp who is keen to learn about bikes. That's all.
Both are good bike but if anyone have doubt about TVS quality, i would recommend him to ride RTR200 and you will get the answer.

So, may one go for these bikes? If yes, which one would be better-Hunk or Xtreme Sports? Excuse me for asking that minutely :-)

Both have the exact same engine specs and to my eyes, Hunk looks better.
Xtreme Sports would however be comfier due to GRS shocks at the rear.
                        Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
