I own hero Glamour FI... Till now i have completed 16000 km in 2 yrs. In highways i am getting 75 Kmpl without rash driving. With 15% city run and 85 % Highway run it is giving 72Kmpl. My average speed is 50 to 65 Kmph. I am always increase the speed gradually depends upon the road condition. Definitely it is a good commuter bike. Look wise also it is nice. But we cant expect more pickup in this bike with a pillion rider. For a single rider it is good in Mileage and also pickup. Since it is a FI engine, mrng time starting trouble is not there even in heavy cold weather. Engine will start with a single self press or a single kick and run flawlessly without getting engine off... but in case of carburetor engine we need to give acceleration for atleast 15 secs. Or otherwise engine will get off.. then only we can expect flawless running engine.

Thanks for your inputs Eswararajan, right now I have increased my budget to 80K to accomodate 150cc commuter bikes too, which would be good for touring purposes also.

Go for the gixxer or Honda hornet , I think both of them are sub 80-90k in terms of costs and offer good performance for the price point. In terms of proof, gixxer has been tried n tested but Honda always manufacture the smoothest of engines. Theres also fazer fi, but I'm not sure about that bike.

I'm looking for commuter type 150cc bikes with decent mileage, with forward set footpegs and upright seating, so not keen on gixxer/hornet which are sporty offerings rather than commuterish, also fz/fazer goes way above budget, hence leaving them both.

Gixxer n hornet are commuterish but a bit sporty, wat about cb unicorn 160? Yamaha szr? Pulsar 150? Bajaj v15 is also a good option, the bike catches your attention and it actually sounded good for a 150cc commuter.

Yes,yes, Unicorn 160,150and SZ are my priority now, will decide based on the test drive. However I'm not considering p150 and bajaj v, though this one looks distinct, I'm not interested in it..

Saluto(disc) would be an ideal choice for your requirements.

Though, both the bikes shortlisted by you are excellent choices.

                            Hi Umashankar,

Saluto is very light and smooth but not as silent as shine. I haven't crossed 60kmph in my bike, but the rest ride bike which I tried, I managed to reach 80kmph mark, no engine stress was noticed at that point. Didn't check mileage because my bike has run just 100 kms. will be measuring it after 1st service.

Congrats on the purchase. If I'm not wrong, yours is the 1st Saluto on our forum.
Please share your experiences on the bike with us in the Motorcycle Ownership Experiences section. You may have to post a new thread for it.

Since the purchase is done, I shall close this thread.
