  • which is best bike to choose in 1.5k

    hello friends,
my budget is of 1.5 lacs and i am looking for a good powerful bike in this price bracket . As i am a student and have a limited monthly finance ,i want my bike to be low maintenance and should return fuel economy of 35-40 kmpl .
cruiser are lower on the list and i use bike for all sort of purposes like city ride and long ride up to 400 km and in all weather conditions at any time.
i have given a thought to pulsar 200 rs and duke 200 with pulsar on a high upper hand..

so please fellas help me out !!

(currently i am having pulsar 135 and i own it from 5 year, so durability is a go too).
(i have a pre-own ktm rc 200 or pre-own cbr 250r in the option with 10000 km +/- on odometer).

I know you are a student and all, but 1500 rupees for a bike is far too little

But on a serious note, the CBR sounds like a good deal. If not a new Duke 200.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

IMO get a new R15 or RS200, and do invest some part of your budget in purchasing riding gears.

        Hey bud,

If you want a low maintenance & FE about 40kmpl than i would say go for RS200 Abs version, it'll probably be the best buy for your needs and wants.

Is the pre-owned cbr an Abs version or standard?

            1. If you are not bodered about power then do a test ride of Gixxer (Do Save some for Riding gears)
            2. If power is the part then Duke 200.
            3. If looking for Race bike feel CBR
            4. Touring then Royal Enfield 350

i would suggest go for finance and upgrade for 300-400 cc as you have already used Duke 200 and CBR
            Karan

            KTM Duke 200

Re: which is best bike to choose in 1.5k

Go for CBR250R ABS or RS200 ABS
400km weekend rides on RC200 will be difficult for your wrists if you are a little overweight like me. And duke will be a bad choice for 400 km ride unless you upgrade its seat.

I was looking for an upgrade from my FZ-S last year with similar requirements like you. (i am a student too). Considered Duke 390 and CBR250R ABS as possible options and finally settled with CBR250R ABS primarily due to its better refinement and reliability. It returns 33kpl consistently and service costs are reasonable (Although some spares like brake pads are expensive)

A new RS200 makes more sense in my opinion. Buying a used bike requires a lot of patience, support from the seller and some luck. To give some possible idea about price for CBR250R ABS in the used market, here's what i found in my city. KTMs have destroyed the resale value of CBR250R ABS and they are available at good prices in the used market.
                1. 3000km old 250R ABS @ 1.4L
                2. 271KM/50 days old 250R ABS @ 1.6L

                3. 10,000km old Duke 390 @ 1.4L but running costs will be high.

ps: Incase you are unaware, RS200 features ABS only on its front wheel. CBR250R has ABS on its both wheels

GO for the Duke390 as it will keep you engaged because if you buy a bike it should keep you excited for at least 2 years plus you have the best ABS+sliper clutch+metzlers. I bought the D200 1.5 years back and now feel wish i had bought the D390 because of the power it makes

Well, then if it has ABS & 12k kms reading on odo then look forward to it as you might get a good deal on it or else RS200 is an all-rounder too.

My bike is closing 6.5 years old now and I still am excited every time I ride it.. It isn't about the power that keeps you excited, it is about how you feel the bike is.. freedom from trouble and of course, comfort.. if you aren't comfortable in riding a bike, how can it excite you??

@TS, buddy.. Go for a New bike in that price tag.. RS200 sounds like a sensible option.. else try out the R15S

+1 for RS200, you already own a Bajaj, so you will have a clear picture about the maintenance cost and how the service centers are. And it will be a proper upgrade with more power and ABS.
else R15 would be an obvious choice.
Take test rides and then decide.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.
