  • Need Advice for Buying my first Scooty

    Hello All,

Straight to the topic- I need to buy an scooty for increasing traffic in my area. My use will be mainly in city and occasional highway use.
i am short at height Above 5' so it should be a low seat height scooty. Also There should be enough leg room (for my grocery bags). Also i need mobile

charger, Good under seat storage (for my full face studd Helmet) and good suspension. I am planning to do some tours with the scooty ( i know there

are less fuel tank capacity in scooty but you will not get everything in just one package) Also i need Good mileage. So please share your views guys.

    Thanks.

    My choices Are :-

    1) The All new suzuki Access 125

    2) Honda Activa 125

    3) Hero Maestro Edge

    4) Hero Duet

    5) TVS Jupiter (i m not much interested in this)

If anyone here bought honda Activa 125 or The all net suzuki access 125 please please please share your experience here.

One of my friend bought Honda Aciva 125 and he is irritated with the bad fuel economy of this scooty.

I went to the honda Showroom in my area they said that it will give you 55km/l for sure ( I don't trust them ) but my friend is getting only 35-42 km/l

depending on riding style and traffic.
I also asked a person nearby (who have an white colour activa 125) and he also said that he is getting around 35-40 km/l in city and around 44km/l on

highway. Also activa 125 don't have a mobile charging point.

And About Access 125 :- the seat height is little bit high but it have many features also they claimed good fuel economy. Main problem is there is no

dealer in our area. Also i heard many complains about the spare parts availability and Also After sales service.

About hero one of our Relative works there so i will get good service.

    Now Please suggest me.

I guess you are the first person who is 5" tall 5' you meant! Though that shouldn't be a problem i believe, i have seen really tiny women zipping on these gearless things without any inhibitions!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Brother, the more powerful 125 scoots will give less mileage as compared to 110cc scoots.
The mileage on 110cc motor is around 50, so naturally for 125 cc you will not get over 45kmpl.

So you should choose on the basis of your usage. If you plan to tour a lot on the scoot, get the 125cc motor, so that it may not get out of breath or overheat on using all day long.
And if you plan to use it in city most of the time and tour on it once in a month or less, then choose any 110cc motor. It will give you good mileage and can handle long rides occasionally.
Among the 110cc new maestro edge is a good choice. ticks all your requirements. Among the 125 cc, Activa would be a good choice.
        Ride safe.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

2016 Suzuki Access 125 (Disc) is your best option.

From the given list, I Could choose any of them blindly and wont ever repent. Height is not a problem at all. My wife is 5' and she rides my Jupiter with ease(Jupiter has one of the highest seat heights). Or you can choose Mahindra Gusto, which comes with Seat adjustment.
Expect 125 CCs to deliver around 35-40 kmpl and 110 cc around 45-50 kmpl. All are same. Test ride, and buy which ever makes you feel better.

              1) Yeah 125cc will give less mileage. But what about 2016 suzuki access 125 ? Their claimed mileage is 64km/l.

              2) Again agree with you sir, Maestro edge is the best choice in 110cc. As far as the service is concerned i will get good service as i stated above one of our relative works there. But the engine is newly developed so don't know how reliable will be it.

              +1 from me.

              Thank you very much.

yeah but Here in my area there is no suzuki showroom. I am still searching the nearby places.
Also i have heard about their spare parts problem and also about their bad after sales service.

I saw a video at youtube. There are some wires under the vehicle. you can use those to unlock the under seat storage and the fuel filling tank cap without the keys. Is it true? I am not able to find the video again

Re: Need Advice for Buying my first Scooty

                Hi,

I am also in the same boat as you are, in market to buy a new scooter for me and my wife, recently i sold my CBR250 as i was not able to drive it much and now wanted a scooter which will be used for short trip to markets and crowded area. I test drove :-

All New Access 125, It is a wonderful scooter great pickup, seating and feels agile. Engine seems very refined

Activa 125, it also has the good pickup and power but slightly lower and new access 125. felt some vibrations when driving under 20 and after that it is okey. Suspension seems little hard.

Maestro edge : It contains lots of feature, before TD i was zerod on this vehicle, but when i drove it, engine was a big let down, above 40-50 it gives up and take time to increase speed and too much vibration when in slow speed below 20kmpl.

Jupiter , Wonderful scooter, decent pickup, breaking etc. Handling is great, and 12 inch wheels front and back. But the old gen console is a big thumbs down. Also the color which i like (blue) comes with beige interior to which i feels hard to maintain in long run.

Now i am confused which one to go for .

All new Access 125: Heart says to go for it. But not sure about Suzuki after sales support and parts,

Activa 125 : Expensive than access 125, didnt like much the hard suspension setup as i want comfort too due to back pain issue. So i am very doubtful as this will be a hit or miss for me.

Jupiter : All round scooter but old looking console, beige interior. And around equal (1k less) than all new access 125.

So currently in dilemma on which scooter to pick. Any suggestions

                Thanks

                  @rajpandey10 +1 for you.
Bro my heart also sets and did not want to move from Suzuki Access 2016 version( I did not get chance to test drive as of now). but the problem is that in my area there is no suzuki showroom. And also the after sales service and spare parts availability issue is there with suzuki.

If you have any suzuki showroom/dealer in your nearby area you can go with it.

i also had many doubt about maestro edge pickup because of higher rpm torque and power which is not in the case of jupiter. it have lower rpm torque than maestro edge. But you are right about the old age meter cosole which is a big let down.

One suggestion from me :- just enquire about some spare parts at suzuki showroom like new access air filter and oil filter etc. If available than one doubt will clear.

Yes, Maestro Edge have that vibration sound under 20/25kmph speed, at higher speeds the scooter runs very smooth and efficiently. But once it cross above 1000kms or above, then the vibration goes away. See the other thread of Hero Duet ownership experience where it is clarified (Maestro EDge & Duet have same engine).

All Scooters are good but it depends on what features you want etc etc..

Jupiter is good but some dont like the old age meter console . Likewise every scooter will have plus or minus..!!

Maestro edge : It contains lots of feature, before TD i was zeroed on this vehicle, but when i drove it, engine was a big let down, above 40-50 it gives up and take time to increase speed, and too much vibration when in slow speed below 20 kmpl.

See below thread on Hero Duet, incase you have not seen it yet. You will get some more idea how good the engine and performance is: (both Duet & Edge engines are same)

Thanks Both Raj and Nairrk Bro. I think it will be good if i can arrange test drive (i will try). Sometimes the test drive vehicles are not tuned properly so it will be good if i can arrange test drive. Actually in my area there is no test drive vehicle available, but one of our relatives work there so i will try to arrange a test drive through him.

                            Bro GO FOR MAESTRO!!!!

But I believe we should buy these gear less scooters if we want to drive them in a Happy Go Lucky mood I mean to say drive them in constant speed and about 40-50 or max 60 kmph.

I have an RTR180 I have been driving it since April 2011 to til date and you know I never driven it below 60/70 kmph. but now I love to drive my Maestro at 40-50 kmph. Its really smooth but yes it gives vibration at starting 10 20 kmph.

I will drive it @40-50 kmph and on highway 70kmph will be my max speed that too occasionally. Bro can you tell me the performance after 60kmph is there too much vibration after that? Also is it feels too much Powerless after 60-70kmph?
