I had gone for a longish 250 KM ride in a single day on my current unicorn this weekend. All seems to be fine except a bit sore butt, so I have realized how important it is to have comfortable rider position. So rider comfort is #1 priority now. Please suggest bikes accordingly. -)

For long rides I have experience with a Honda CBR 250R, which is a quite good tourer. I added a mesh cover to the seat, which helps avoid sweaty butt.

For instance, take a small 5 min break to stretch/pee/hydrate yourself every hour or 90-100 km.
Sore butt happens due to anaerobic breathing of the skin tissue in your bum. Blood flow is restricted as well. Hence, make a practice of just stretching or walking a bit regularly.

My personal opinion is CBR250r and many people for are comparing it with Mojo, rtr200 and TNT 25 but trust me nothing comes close to CBR in terms of refinement and especially in touring department. Also, most of them has don't have ABS as option.
Wind protecting is key in touring and CBR's visor including the bulky mirrors makes sense in high speeds.
Its little outdated than competition but there's nothing actually wrong with it.
For Daily Commute is your dominating area then CBR will not be as good as competition just because of fairing and soft suspension setup. The only problem you will have is when you are in bumper to bumper traffic you can't zip in between the cars like you can do with rest.
And very frankly speaking I have one from 2011 nothing major damages or repairs the biggest bill I ever paid was Rs.13000 again it was mostly my fault 6k for speedometer (I tried to fix lights and blew up entire circuit)
and 4-5k for rear suspension again went over big pothole at high speed
.
Also to add that we are using this bike for 5+ years without any major issues it has few niggles like timing chain gets out of line some people had to change the shims (mostly depends on how you drive the bike I only changed once in 45k of riding) which are easy to fix and cheap too. How many of the modern bikes will last that long without issues is something only time can tell (I'm not saying they all are bad but we don't know how good they are yet) .

I had the same confusion just a week ago, I was desperate for bike which could do both city and highway rides. I am not rich enough to maintain separate bikes for city and highways and my budget was limited to 2L.
I started looking for options - RE, Honda, TVS and Yamaha
TBTS500 - I had bad experience with my previous RE, so not going there.
Honda- Only thing available with ABS was CBR250, but quite an old model compared to the latest ones available in the market
TVS - I am not a RTR lover, so scored that off to from the list
Yamaha - R15s was perfect for city, but gives me painful shoulders and palms as the seating position is a bit aggressive for a guy like me who is just 5'6" inches tall. And not sure how much would be comfortable on the highways.
In the end, I went for the age old CBR trusting its reliability and praises from the owners of this forum.R15S - Current

Thanks for all your inputs everyone! It seems CBR 250 is the topmost recommendation.
I don't like Yamaha R15 at all - forget touring, I don't even find it comfortable for city ride. Don't like its looks either - I prefer FZ-S/V in looks.
The only sports bike that I like is Ninja - I am not considering that one though!

Some updates after a long time -
- Based on majority's recommendation, I visited Honda showroom here to check out CBR 250. They informed me that ABS is not under production and they had to refund money to few bookings after they waited for 3+ months. They just have 1 single black+gold CBR (without ABS) and I didn't like it much. Its age is showing now - even bikes worth half its price have better features. BTW, how do you install crash-guard on CBR?
- I checked Benelli TNT 25 and it looks impressive. I didn't have a chance to take test ride, but overall build looks quite good. I have some concerns about this though - the service centre is around 25-30 KMs from my home and they said they charge 400-500 for pick up & drop. I don't have problems with slightly higher maintenance, but given its low volumes I am worried about after sales service and availability of parts - ease of repairing when something goes wrong. ASS network is really poor as it seems now - but definitely a bike that I liked. BTW, Bikewale quotes it at 2.06L on rad in Pune, but the dealer quoted 2.12L for this bike. Why should it be so?
- I also checked RTR 200 - ABS+FI is nowhere on the radar, they are quoting minimum 6 months for the FI+ABS model. I saw matte black with Pirelli today at he dealer - I didn't like that colour much, but I think matte RED or matte white should look great.
- Also asked Suzuki - The dealer has no clue about Gixer 250 as of now.
It would be great if I could meet someone from Pune having Benelli TNT 25 to get some first-hand information/experience. Not much choice in 250 cc segment now.
I am wondering if I should wait a bit longer to see if Honda announces newer CBR 250!
