    Query Approved

The AS200 might not have set the sales chart on fire like the 220, but it is nonetheless a better, more modern motorcycle.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

You will enjoy riding gixxer sf more than pulsar 200ns/as/rs because you are not able to use full power. But in gixxer you will enjoy every minute.

            Thanks for replies fellows

I am going to take test drive of Gixxer SF and Pulsar 220F tomorrow. Will update tomorrow.
Pulsar AS200 has been plugged out by Bajaj. I verified after calling dealers in various states.

What's pulling me is both Pulsar and Gixxer come with a price tag of 1 lakh. Pulsar offers more power, greater torque at same price. Greater torque comes handy in mountain roads as am planning to scale leh next year.

I was also in same dilemma few months back and decided to go with 220. My daily commute is 30kms with 70% Orr which I can do good speeds so I went ahead with the 220. It has been 2000kms and it is pretty good (touchwood). Thing about bajaj is buy a bike which has been in market for good no of years so all niggling issues are sorted out. And for me the price tag of 90 to 95k which premium 150cc bikes asks for is too much considering 220 at 1.05lakhs. coming to mileage I get 43 to 46kmpl which is in no means less when you are getting bucket loads of torque and power to cruise along at 4 to 5k rpm

Pulsar AS 200 or Gixxer or Pulsar 220?

                Hi,

I was looking to buy Pulsar AS 200, but it is currently not available here in Hyderabad. I have checked with all the dealers here and none of them are in a position to promise me the delivery for this bike.

My usage would be for daily commuting to office (almost 60kms) within city and long rides once in a month or 2. My height is 5'6" and weigh 70 kgs.
My budget is around ₹1 Lakh and the other options I see in this range are

                1. Apache RTR 200 4V - Didn't like the pillion seat and dont trust Apaches over pulsars, considering the earlier generations of Apache.
                2. Gixxer SF - looks are the best. But lack of power.
                3. Pulsar 220 - All time Beast with best power output, but has quality issues with Chain kit & Gearbox and this is quite some old model compared to the other two.

My first priority was for AS 200 but since it is not available now, I somehow feel to go for Pulsar 220.

*Is it wise to go for a 220 now (in august 2016)?
*Or should I consider Gixxer (faired) over 220?
*Or is there any probability for Bajaj to supply AS/NS 200 again to market? (If yes I can surely wait for that)
*Are there any other bikes expected to be launched in 200cc segment this year?

Also kindly mention if there is any better option in this range which i missed.

Please advise & Many thanks in advance.

The Apache 200 is very different from its predecessor. So don't base your judgement on that. The 220 still seems to be going strong. I am a bit surprised about news of AS200. As you see above in this thread, you are the second member suggesting that the AS200 is not available. Interesting!

Since you have a new motorcycle you can tell (by fresh obrservation) more about how are the vibrations now? I have heard fairing vibrations come before completion of 1000km and engine vibrations at strong acceleration rocks the bones. How economical is to keep the motorcycle?

Test drive of Gixxer SF is due, yet the reviews and speculation of specifications show that Gixxer is capable machine with strong mid range.

Bajaj had brought NS and AS to replace 220 but both bikes failed the task. Now Bajaj is pushing RS to do the job. So these 2 attempts made me wonder that Bajaj might remove 220 as RS is doing good. I had called various dealerships and they don't have AS200 in stock confirming bajaj has plugged it out.

I did a test ride of Apache RTR 200 last week. Liked the handling and power of this bike. As mentioned earlier I was worried about the quality, but Monk clarified that the new Apache is lot different compared to its predecessors.

I also did a test ride of Gixxer and Pulsar AS 150. Handling of Gixxer is better than AS150 & Apache, though it compromises on power.

I have used Pulsar 220 for few days in the past and I some how feel it is better than Apache 200. I may be wrong though since I could not ride Apache for long time during my test ride.

Still confused which one to choose.

I haven't had any fairing vibes till now ( touchwood). Coming to engine vibes yes it neither a Honda nor a Yamaha but believe me it is not a much problem. Thiers slightly a tinge of vibes from foot pegs and rider seat at 90kmph but it is not a big problem. It's more than worth the money you pay for when compared to gixxer or other premium 150cc bikes. Only thing regret with bajaj is the shit dtsi engine oil they are up to which is waste of money. Motul in any iteration would do just fine for any pulsars.

                            Thanks Abhilash for details
Bajaj's 10k engine oil is good for initial 1000-1200kms. Afterwards it starts ruining gearshifts. This happened when I was riding to Manali on a 220.

I had booked Pulsar 220 (in black) on 5th August, but since then I was in two minds. That's the absurdity.
I found my 110cc Activa to be Ok in terms of power for riding in city conditions. 150cc would do great but 220cc, ohh it's overwhelming. Suzuki has launched this great motorcycle but it will take quite some time in building the service network.
I will be buying a Pulsar soon
