  • Bike under 1.20 lakhs!

Hello everyone ive been using p150 for more than three years now and planning to buy a higher cc bike but my budget is 1.10 max.
    My requirements:-
Fuel tank capacity should be around 13-16
    Mileage atleast 30
    Good acceleration for city overtakes
Should be able to cruise at 100-105kmph on the highway with ease shortlisted two bikes:-
    Pulsar 220 and gixxer sf.
Which one should i go for?

    Query Approved

The 220 can easily do all that you want and more. I am not sure about the cruising ability of the SF. Whether it is comfortable doing triple digit speeds.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Gixxer will not be a proper upgrade in terms of Power (neither in Horse Power nor in Torque). However is will be a smoother and better build then your current bike.
P220 ticks all the check boxes for you, moreover you being an owner of Bajaj will know how good or bad the service centers are, how is the after sales service. So you will be in known territory and with a more powerful bike. So I think P220 would be the ideal upgrade.
      Ride safe.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

None of them would CRUISE at 105 or above. Both will be happy at max 90 nothing over it. Gixxer sf would be my choice smooth engine , nice handling etc. 220 would feel like tractor in few years. Pulsar 150 that you use is more REFINED THAN 220 AND REVS MUCH BETTER 220 IS VERY SLUGGISH AND VIBEY ON HIGHER REVS. Beware before getting it as you never know when bajaj would stop its production. On the other hand cruising ability of 105 or above you have to up your budget these won't do it for you if not get a preowned ns or cbr. And buy some gears with rest of your money.

If you are looking for a cruiser, see if Avenger 220 suits you. You should also check royal Enfield standard 350. Both motorcycles fit your budget.

I would advise AS 200 but heard that its being discontinued. Else coming from a 150 its would be a proper upgrade within your budget and can easily cruise in the triple digits without feeling stressed. I can vouch for its touring ability since I have been touring on my NS for the past 3 years and the engine can really take abuse and still be vibe free with the right engine oil. City mileage also hovers in the 35 to 40 category. Fuel Tank though is about 10 L excluding reserve.

Do check it out if its still available.

The AS should be available. NS is manufactured and exported, so wont be available.

Ur right brother but tye reasons for not taking either of the two are :-
Gixxer- smaller tank, 4ah puny battery, lighting is not as good as p220, spares availability is an issue.
P220- since its has been in the market for long so bajaj may sack it anytime soon and itl be the worst if I buy it and the next day it gets discontinued. Moreover the as200 is also not available [emoji17]

I stay in kolkata and searched the whole city including the outskirts but couldn't find one. As150 is available not the 200.

Yes brother, that has to be taken under consideration I'm afraid. But even if it is discontinued there will be no shortage of spare parts because of the sheer number of Pulsars on Indian roads, so you will be pretty safe.
Not sure what else would come under your budget. Try out the RTR200, the reviews are promising.

Have you looked for any other options, used market maybe (not ideal but, if you can get a good deal on a clean bike then why not).

Just my 2 cents - I do not think the 220 is gonna be discontinued anytime in the near future. Just look at the past trend. The NS was supposed to cannibalise its sales. We all know what happened, 2.5 years after launch it was discontinued and Bajaj simply revised the sticker job on the 220. The RS is in a different segment altogether so cant compare that. But with the AS Bajaj hoped to get the fairing/220 lovers over to their camp but that still didnt work. Im guessing its the psychology at work, 220 being higher cc than 200 and of course the fact that the 220 has a pretty substantial silencer. AS is also discontinued now. In all this i still see new Pulsar 220s on the street every few days.

The 220 has a brand equity which Bajaj simply wont kill since that is still their only product which has been successful in the premium segment as per me. RS is still not killing it in the sales from what i observe. So judging by all this I think if you like the 220 and find it to be the proper upgrade, then go for it. As it is with the innumerable ones on the street as of today, even if Bajaj goes bonkers and axes it, you will still have spares available for at least 5 to 7 years (legally any auto company is obligated to provide spares for 7 years as far as i know after discontinuing a product).

                          Hope this helps.

Completely OT, but I can't help but complement your sharp articulation of the Bajaj business model. Very apt. If I were the TS, I'd listen to you. I don't think the P220 is going anywhere. I'll admit Bajaj really surprised me with their courage(so to speak) when they made such drastic changes to engine and design language of their bikes, but the very fact that they didn't kill their flagship motorcycle shows they didn't have full confidence in their new ventures from the word go. I'm not judging the decision - the indian customer base is, after all, a fickle one.
