  • BLR: HSR:-> KR Puram:->HSR office commuter

    About Me:
    Male
    35.5yrs
    6 feet tall
    95kgs

    Usage:
5 weekdays: solo ride for office commute
Payload: A laptop bag+lunch bag+ raincoat for those days

    Weekends: Self+wife+4yr kid
    Payload:~180kgs
    Radius: 5-7 kms
For further distance, I'll drive car.

    Budget: Not a constraint

    Commute Information:
    Distance:13-14 kms each way
    Home: HSR(Mantri Sarovar Apartment)
Office: Bagmane Constellation Business Park(Opposite Soul Space Arena)

    Commute Timings:
    Onward @Morning 0900 hrs
    Return@Evening 1900 hrs

    Commute Highlights/Concerns:
Traffic build up at Sarjapur flyover, Bellandur, Kadubeesanhalli, Marthahalli Bridge, ISRO U-turn, and finally flyover construction at Soul Space Arena mall.

Peculiarity- traffic seldom stops- keeps crawling @5-10KMPH

    Other concerns:
    1. There are 3 underpass on this route- Kadubeesanahalli, Marthahalli, Karthik nagar railway underpass- and 1st and 3rd underpass have been flooded whenever it poured.

    2. Metro has been sanctioned from Silk Board to Marthahalli- which means bottlenecks throughout my route for years once that project starts.

Currently commuter: Activa:13 years old. 34K kms.

    Why want to get commuter:
    1. My Activa has no proper documentation- either insurance and it's registered in another state.
    2. Wife wants to use it for petty grocery runs/school pickup/drop of kid etc. With me taking the scooter, she feels handicapped.

    Other points:
    1. I don't want to go far from my home/office for servicing.

    2. I won't be able to give much time to this vehicle - it should NOT be maintenance seeking bike/scooter

    3. Indoor basement parking in home and office.

If I were to make a wish- I want a bike that will tolerate crawling traffic, gain good speed when roads clear up, happily soak all bumps/potholes/undulations, ready for offroad as metro construction starts and underpasses gets clogged with drain water. Handling has to be 5-Star as I slip between the gaps on the road between larger/slow vehicles.

Re: BLR: HSR:-> KR Puram:->HSR office commuter

      Hi All
Just wanted to update this thread -

On 1st Nov - I took test ride of Activa 125 - and booked it.
The stocks were all exhausted in preceeding Diwali Sale and that gave us a waiting time of 2-3 weeks.

All this while, my heart was not settled.
There were 2 other models my heart was reeling to get a test ride- New Suzuki Access 125 and Aprilia SR150.

Over next 7 days - I tried to take test ride of Suzuki Access 125 - and the showroom guys just failed the brand!
Suzuki showroom folks just didnt seem to sell anything - forget the Test Rides!

Aprilia - I went twice- and all two times I could take test ride - including extended ones.

My heart was sold on Aprilia - and it was phenomenal in terms of power and handling compared to Activa.
My 13- year old activa is already having a bad suspension - and hence I felt SR150 suspension is better :-D

I've booked Aprilia SR150 and its 45-60 days of agonizing wait!

Whenever I see All New Suzuki Access 125, my heart skips a beat - Perhaps this will be the best scooter that I never owned! :-(

You can consider CB Hornet 160R for daily commute, in place of scooter.
        Avoid noise pollution. Avoid honking.

I understand where you're coming from, but the stretch that TS wants to commute on is a total disaster traffic wise. He's better off on a gearless scooter.
Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.
