Comfortable for a pillion. Now that is a big ask in today's motorcycle market!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

For such long journeys with pillion, most suitable seems to be from the Royal Enfield Rumbler 350/500/Classic 350.

        +1 to the above.

Buy a CL500, add the saddle bags, tank bags. Good comfort for a pillion. Enough power and torque which can help you cruise at 80kmph all day.
Good enough to use a city commute too,

Take the Bullet Standard 500.Has a more comfortable seat compared to the Classic. Is Carbureted,Something you can fiddle around and fix yourself.

Also that's where 'Royal Enfield' and 'Bullet' lives at

Care to explain? I'm yet to hear about any rims breaking on an RE.
There were pics floating around from a CBE rally where the rear tyre came apart, but that was due to riding at high speeds with a punctured wheel.

You can read it here - https://www.rushlane.com/royal-enfie...-12201243.html

Apart from this, RE carried out a silent recall to fix few issues with the suspension and clutch plates. Newer batches have improved leaps and bounds. Is it perfect now? Nope! But it's not as bad as some haters make it to be.

Himalayan is a wonderful product from RE. Infact, their one of the 2 products which I admire.. GT and Himalayan have changed my way of looking at RE. I was a hard core hater of RE bikes but these 2 bikes have earned their respect..

Himalayan looks odd in city use if you ask me.. a good tourer for who h it solves its purpose!

I come from the same place dude and after Himalayan and Continental GT my thoughts changed too.

Well, Himalayan will definitely look odd in city commutes. Along with city commutes, OP wants something for "long weekend trips and a yearly trip to Ladakh, Spiti, etc". I like cruisers but as per my searching on this forum, Avenger Cruise 220 cant handle Laddakh. For myself, I felt RE classic/350 are not that much comfortable. I had several long rides and many city commutes on them.

Check out the Electra 350. I've found it to be good personally. My in-laws own one and I ride it sometimes.

Else, if you can stretch your budget, TNT25 is also a good option.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

                          pulsars / ns's
                          yamaha fzs's
honda hornet [the most practical one]
                          gixxers
are IMO extremely reliable for almost all the things mentioned by u.

ktm's are *very* capable but u make ur girlfriend ride pillion on it, if u want a swift divorce / breakup.

if u plan to stretch the budget a bit then...
                          the benellis
                          the mahindras
                          might do the job too...

no matter what u do, pls don't buy a RE - i know this will sound sacrilegious to many; but basis my 1st hand experience of owning one for over 2-decades i may safely say that RE is the most ridiculously overhyped piece of junk.

himalayan - well a little lesser junk perhaps, but a big step in the right direction especially when compared with other antiques in RE garage - but still dated technology that's at least 10 years behind the times

listen to ur brains & then to ur heart - always buy a motorcycle that's culmination of a matter of intellect & a matter of emotions - never overrule one for the other

Fully agreed for REs. 40 Years and not any competitive improvement on the chasis and engine refinements. Japanese/European bikes are way ahead in terms of handling and performance level, but still we do not get the level of satisfaction from REs. One time it was a pride, now a pain to maintain/ride. A dream earlier, now no more enthusiastic. Money is for bikes without vibes.

                              Hello there,

you have a budget and a purpose in mind. That's a job well begun. But other than that your question is very open ended.

Do consider your previous riding experience
Your height and your comfort with certain kinds of bikes
                              Accessibility to service centres

You may already have few bikes in mind, test drive those too and then you will be much more closer to deciding on a certain bike to purchase!

Other than that, from all the choices mentioned till now and the budget given, Hornet may be a good buy (but not unless You test drive it and like it).
