  • Suggestions For Beginner Bike

Hello, I am going to buy a motorcycle near future. Finally I select 4 bikes after searching internet and other media.
    1. Yamaha R15 V2
    2. Honda CBR 250R
    3. Bajaj RS200
    4. Yamaha Fazer V2

Please suggest best bike from those 4 bikes.
medium distance runs and rare long runs (Mostly ride for joy). Engine capacity should be lower than 250cc (If you suggest other than those). Please consider bike build quality, durability, handling and stability for your suggestion.

    Query Approved

You haven't given much information about your requirements, so from the limited info, i would suggest the R15
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

      Suggestions For Beginner Bike

Frankly speaking all bikes are different, we don't know what your intended use, riding style is. Please give more details, there's separate format for bike suggestions queries.

      Below is the format:

      1. Budget

      2. Age

      3. Height

      4. Weight

      5. Intended usage (eg. Office/College commute, Highway runs, Racetrack usage, Weekend recreation riding etc.)

      6. Fuel Efficiency requirement (approx., if any)

      7. City & Highway percentage usage

      8. Approximate Daily / Monthly running

      9. City / Town /Village of residence (so we can evaluate road conditions / traffic / terrain / altitude / OTR pricing)

      10. Brand / Bike type preference (if any)

Aside to MODS: In the past few post members do not follow the format which as a result query becomes vague. Request mods not to approve such queries.

            Re: Suggestions For Beginner Bike

They might fall under <=250CC category, but they have different charecteristics associated with them. The R15 v2.0 has a little bit of committed riding position, if your primary ride is in city or town it can put an instant smile on your face, take it to track it can be a little good companion too. But with that little committed riding position it wont be good for long runs, I guess.
CBR250 is a different machine altogether, its more of a sports tourer than anything else, with best build quality and high revving engine it will last long among the lot. Of you want peace of mind and looking for a bit more of long highway rides then look no further go for baby ceeber.
Pulsar RS200 might have the heart of a Duke but search on the net and you will find lots of complaints about the overall quality of the bike, specially quality of plastic.
Fazer is in a league lower, If you are looking to save some dough then check Gixxer Sf, fully faired and reasonable performer.

As this will be your first bike I would suggest you something that's easier to tame, lots of people who bought Dukes as their first bike ended up in some mishaps. Baby ceeber will be a good bike to start with I guess. But always the best way is to test them out, so if possible borrow these bikes from your friends and check them out. And sometimes your heart strikes a chord with the bike it choses, thats the bliss!

R15, if you want a more aggressive riding position, CBR 250 if you want a more relaxed ride.
The gripe is that both of these models are old with updates in the pipeline, especially R15 v3. (Honda is the worst manufacturer in this regard, gives only hand downs to Indian market)

                Re: Suggestions For Beginner Bike

I suggest you can go for the KTM RC 200. It is a pretty good bike and if you can oversee it for its lack of comfort it is very sharp and responsive bike. You can also opt for its substitute the Bajaj Pulsar RS200. But I have heard complaint that bajaj's fairing starts to rattle after sometime and since I have ridden the RC200 for a hour continuously also including heavy traffic I can say that it is not too tiring and since my height is almost same as yours (6'1) you would rather sit in an upright posture.

                  Re: Suggestions For Beginner Bike

Out of bajaj rs200, CBR 250 and rc 200, the CBR offers more comfort than the KTM, and better quality than the Bajaj. Also listen to the sound of the KTM at idle. Some guys are annoyed by the 'race auto' sounds of the Austrian bikes.

Finally I sort out my list for two bikes. Personally I don't like KTM. So I want to select from,
                    Honda CBR 250R
                    Yamaha R15 V@.
What will be match for my requirements?

Mr paradox and many others have given you their suggestions and you said you have narrowed your choice to 2 bikes. So now it's your job to select the bike.
