• Buying my first ride - heavy city use

1. Budget: ~1L - 1.5L
2. Age: 23
3. Height: 6ft 1inch
4. Weight: 92
5. Intended usage (eg. Office/College commute, Highway runs, Racetrack usage, Weekend recreation riding etc.): Office and maybe weekend rides
6. Fuel Efficiency requirement (approx., if any) : >35
7. City & Highway percentage usage: City 85% & Highyway 15%
8. Approximate Daily / Monthly running: Daily 40-45kms
9. City / Town /Village of residence (so we can evaluate road conditions / traffic / terrain / altitude / OTR pricing): City (Mumbai)
10. Brand / Bike type preference (if any): Gixxer SF, TB350

I'm planning to buy my First bike and having some difficulty in choosing a good ride for me. Being a Car guy, now i'm planning to buy bike for my daily commutes to office which is always Heavy Traffic Road.
I have been doing some research on my own and looks like Gixxer SF will be a good choice for me BUT now Gixxer SF Fi which is newer model is available only in Blue color. And i'm not a huge fan of that color. I liked the Gixxer SF Special Edition (Matt Grey) look better than Blue model so is it worth going for Fi version and compromising on color choice?

Apart from Gixxer SF, I have TB350 in mind which is quite off budget but whichever bike I would be buying will probably should last long and have good maintenance. I won't be switching it for long period. And I think Royal Enfields will be good choice for that reason.

Please let me know if there is any other bike to consider or help me with this choice.

Query Approved

For your usage, the Gixxer SF will do the job. You don't need Fi! If you are new to motorcycles in general, then i would suggest to go through the Ownership threads of the TB350 and the Gixxer SF. A lot of your doubts will get cleared.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Low maintenance and Royal enfields are poles apart. If you don't like oil leaking everywhere and hate spending every second weekend at the service center, don't go for RE.
Get gixxer and you will be happy.

Read the ownership threads of REs and then make an informed decision.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

+1 for Gixxer. Seating posture is comfortable, the engine packs good low and mid range, and the engine can comfortably cruise around 80-90Kmph for your occasional touring duties. Given a choice between Gixxy and REs I will humbly stay away from REs as Gixxy serves the purpose much better than the RE. Other worthy options would be Unicorns,Hornet, and the Apache RTR200. Would also suggest the P220, one of the most underrated and overlooked bikes, if you are okay with its dated looks. P220 packs an amazing torque, it's comfortable, fuel efficient for a 220 CC, and would perform better than the Gixxy on the highways.

Cheers!

Both the bikes are generations apart, is it like Brain Vs Heart kind of scenario here with Gixxer and TBTS350?
Other than that i think TBTS 350 might be out of 1.5 budget mark. do run a check once though!

going with the performance should always be the preference and you even like the bike.I own a R15 v2 abd its too good for short or even for long rides. If i would be on your place i would have chosen either a pulsar or yamaha or a royal Enfield.Going for royal Enfield there is no point going with classic 350 u should go for Thunderbird 350.Pulsar wont be a long lasting machine.Yamaha vs suzuki you should go with yamaha as it has almost equal mileage plus a great performance. So according to me it should be R15

Well, many people find R15's stance too sporty for their liking. And if one such person is made to do 40 km daily in Mumbai traffic, he'll end up selling the bike before it hits a couple of service schedules.
Now, coming to your point on Pulsars don't last - do you have any proof for the same? Any experience personally with them? Or just internet jargon?
Also, when it comes to Yamaha vs Suzuki, why go for a Yamaha? Why not Suzuki? You didn't explain anything on that lines.

Lastly, please make your inputs readable with proper punctuation and correct grammar in full English sentences.

Thank you!

Suzuki is as good as Yamaha!! Not sure if you know about Suzuki but both Suzuki and Yamaha were and are very good competitors.. be it from 1980s in India..

RX vs shogun/Shaolin/samurai

Those were the monstrous 2 strokers to rule India back then..

The Gixxer is a relaxed bike and comparing it with R15, well. I won't do it..

Pulsars are a class apart this generation!! Yes, they can't be compared with the Japs, but they are way better than how they used to be.. we should appreciate Bajaj for coming that long way!!

As for the TS.. you want to keep the bike for a long period without niggles.. then re shouldn't be in the list.. they need a lot of additional care and in case you are married, it is an extra marital affair.. you will be spending more time with the bike than with your family.. in the service center..

Suzuki is a good choice but if you want any more choices, my suggestion is you test ride a RTR200.. which is a great Value for Money!! It is a beauty..

No for RE. As Ankey said, RE and high maintenance come along together..
For your requirements, Gixxer should be very much good enough.
You could alternately try RS200 or Pulsar 220F but, I would prefer Gixxer due to Suzuki's quality and ASS.

Hi

I have never ridden the Gixxer Sf but by the looks and the acceleration on road and this one guy i saw carving corners the other day it appears to be good.
I have toured on the TB350 and i like it.
If you ride it sanely
