  • Suzuki Gixxer SF or TVS Apache RTR 200 4V ?

I'm planning to buy a new bike. After considering my budget, my research has been finally narrowed down to Suzuki Gixxer SF and Apache RTR 200 4V.
    My Uses :-
    - City Travel
    - Daily usage not more than 15 Kms.
    - Occasional short trips on weekends.

I'm partly inclined towards the Gixxer SF but considering the after sales service of Suzuki and also the price difference between the two being not much, i'm confused between the two.

    Query Approved

Both the bikes are good for your usage requirements. I would suggest to read through the Ownership Threads for both bikes before deciding.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Thanks for the suggestion. However, there is one more thing i would like to point out here, my height is 5.6. so i guess both the bikes would be comfortable for me considering my height ?

Both the bikes are very good in their own right and the bikes should not pose any problem for your height. The SF has looks in its favour whereas the RTR200 has power in its favour. Yes, it's going to be a difficult choice but if I were you, I'll be choosing the RTR200 as it has more power in offering at nearly the same price. Also I suggest you to wait till March end as TVS is rumoured to launch its RTR200 with FI and ABS. So these give some more reasons for choosing RTR200.

        Cheers!

Well, more power is always welcome. Though I can't comment on Suzuki as have never owned one, TVS parts are always well priced and easily available.

Mate, that's an old news. The news came out somewhere last September and the link says the bike will be delayed till December 2016. Anyway even the news of FI and ABS getting released in March remains just a speculation as there are no official news. Sorry mate, I've no idea regarding the service quality of both the companies. I think it'll be better to find someone, who is from your city, from ownership thread of both bikes and hear about the service from themselves.

              Cheers!

I would have choosen RTR for more power. Because once the bike gets old you will not enjoy the less power and the lag in the bike as Gixxer is more of a commuter bike and RTR is a sport commuter plus more power. I am not saying that Gixxer is not good but you cannot compare a 150CC and 200CC bike.

Thanks for correcting me there. I'm already trying to find someone who owns a gixxer in my city so that he can guide me better.

Agreed that there is no comparison between 150CC and 200CC, but the dilemma arises due to less difference of price between the two bikes.

Buy the most powerful bike that comes in your budget. In this case RTR200. I have not ridden the new TVS, but the older ones were vibrators, ask the owners in the ownership thread if the new ones are a bit better. If yes, RTR should be the one.

Take test rides of both the bikes back to back and then choose the one that suits you the best and brigs a smile to your face.
All the best for the bike hunt..
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Take a test drive of both....You should before really buying one.
I own a GixxerSF Fi. It is good. Nice pickup, good grippy tyres, excellent feedback from handlebars, and a bit more comfortable seating position if you will ride for long.
Also engine displacement is inversely proportional to average figures.

Thanks. How is the pricing of spares of Suzuki ? And also the cost of service ?

I do accept test ride would be apt solution, but i want to provide one input regarding RTR 200.I test rode RTR 200 for 5 km at speeds upto 80 km/hr not more than that because of road conditions. RTR 200 was completely vibe free for the whole test ride. It is totally different from other rtr (160/180).TVS really has given a nice naked street bike which would be apt for thread owner's short week end rides to fill with adrenaline rush.

Regarding height,My height is also just close to 5'7". Both would be comfortable in terms of height. If you are so concerned about height, riding boots will give you 1&1/2 inches more height. Infact ride quality is also good in rtr. two areas where gixxer wins hands down is fairing (sports bike looks & aerodynamic) and fuel efficiency. But performance wise I hope RTR would be better (saw some youtube videos of "JTRipper"-channel name).

As others replied, it is true that service experience varies from dealer to dealer.Put your query regarding service experience in ownership threads, quoting your city name.
