  • An 150/200cc commuter with nice headlights.

    Hi,
I am a 27years young guy, 5'9"/80kg and wish to buy a 150cc+ bike to replace my Enfield and Splendor. The things that are of concern to me are:
    1. Nice stock lights. As I plan to do a few 90kms night trips per month on state highways.
    2. Good pillion comfort for short rides.
3.Low maintenance. It's understandable. Good fuel economy would be a bonus.
    4. Practical design. It shouldn't mind a few hooks installed for luggage(long rides), carry bags(short rides).
    5. I wish to keep it for 7-8 years.

My daily commute is about 30km, mostly in city and a monthly 200km round trip with about 70-80km of those in night. My current bikes serve my purpose well, but I cannot afford to keep two bikes any more. My budget is 95 thousands but I can borrow another 10-15k if needed.
Please suggest me a few options.

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Yamaha Fazer seems good for your purpose.
Decent fuel economy and smooth engine, along with Twin Lamps. You can install more powerful projector lamps and if required some additional LEDs on front crash guards.

Either the as200 or pulsar 220 should be good for your requirements.
They have best in class projectors , are fairly reliable along with decent fuel economy

Life of a machine depends on how you maintain it.

Any well maintained bike can last almost forever...

Pulsar AS200 seems to be a good option
RTR200 is a good option too but not sure about the headlight luminescence..
P220 makes sense too and it is the oldest in the lot..

            A 200CC Bajaj(PulsarAS) or a 150CC Yamaha(Fazer V2, Fz V2, SZ-RR) or Honda(Hornet160R, Unicorn160) or TVS RTR200 should do the trick.

Stock lamps are not that good in any of these, so you will have to find suitable aftermarket ones.
Take test rides and then choose the one that suits your needs the best.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

I had my eyes set on the As200, but they are not available anywhere. I don't know how long I have to wait for the rumoured BSIV model launch. Any ideas obout that?
Initially, I had infact zeroed down on the 220, but a friend who owns one is advising against it, citing it's age and refinement. I absolutely love the performance though. What do you think? Does the age of the motor really makes it that bad a buy?

Went to check out the Apache200 yesterday. The design and the detailing floored me, but the raised pillion seat didn't appeal to the lady. The major hiccup is still the lighting job. The showroom guys couldn't even tell me if the lights are AC or DC, let alone their performance. I am still looking for some solid reviews on that front.

Do both the lights of Fazer work together or do the alternate as high/low beam? I do not have the option of making changes to the stock setup, so that is of importance to me.
