Not much is known about the new 390's seat and engine heating up in the traffic. So, better to wait for some review before comparing both the bikes
But, to my eyes the seat looks bigger than before on the 390 and the added cushioning of the RC390 might be there in Duke as well.

If your priority is tourer bike with a pillion then D390 may not fit you. It's a bike which can be enjoyed single[emoji12]

Hi,

Guessing that your budget is between 1.5 lakhs to 2.5 lakhs. Im surprised you arent considering the Royal Enfields. Sure they are a bit problematic, but overall when it comes to city and highway cruising along with pillion comfort, i feel they fit the bill and are within the budget.

Also, you cant go wrong with a CBR 250R. Heck you even get ABS and a bigger tank for your touring needs. Sure its a bit outdated but then its a good option.

I own a Dominar ABS and its doing a decent job in the city along with the pillion comfort but cant comment on the highway mannerisms since I havent taken it out to the highway yet.

The BMW G310R is also about to be launched in June 2017, so if your not in a hurry, you can wait and make a more informed choice soon..

+1 to points mentioned by [MENTION=88926]jazzysaravana[/MENTION]. Though D390 and Dominar are very good bikes in their own rights, I personally feel they're overkill for city rides. That doesn't mean they can't be used for commutes but using them for commutes comes with some compromises that you need to make.

I would suggest the FZ25 or if it isn't a hurry, wait some time for the release of its semi faired sibling the Fazer 250. The spy shots are out so we hope the release should be sometime soon. Both FZ25 and Fazer should be better city bikes compared with D400 and D390. Though we can't expect Dominar/D390 levels of performance on highways from FZ250, the usable torque and stress free engine at around 100kmph of FZ250 is something I believe is more than enough for touring, opinions may surely vary here. I recently did a 150km ride on FZ250 and it performed above expectations. I was cruising between 90 and 110 and engine remained stress free. Not to mention, the bike returned a healthy 41 kmpl.

Even the BSIV CBR250R "might" release.

If you're about to buy one now between Dominar or D390, my pick will be the Dominar for its value proposition.

Dont wait for g310r because the launch has been delayed to october 17.. So if you want to upgrade then go for it.
