Re: Need advice about buying a bike within 1Lakh
Bro, I'm happy you shortlisted 3 bikes. All three bikes have pro and cons.Originally posted by Johnty View PostHello, I am from kolkata and this is my very first thread in xbhp. I need some advice on buying a bike. I am 5-10. Weigh about 106-108. I only travel within city and highway riding is rare. I will be travelling with a pillion(my mother). Lets get to the point, I test rode many bikes within 1lakh budget hornet, gixxer, apache 180, 200ns. So, I liked the ns but it will be 20K above my budget. So, with a heavy heart I had to remove it from my list. Last few days ago I rode gixxer and apache 180. Both come within my budget. So, I was asking for advice to this huge community for a suggestion. Suggestions about other bikes are also welcome. Also, please note that mileage 35-40 will suffice for me as I will not be riding more than 20KM a day. Also, please mention after sale service and spare costs of the bikes. I am grateful for your help. Thanks in advance.
First choice is hornet. But the spare parts are costly. And for pillion rider it's much better compare to other two bikes.
Gixxer is good bike. But after sale service is bad .
Apache is not good For pillion rider.
My suggestion- Hornet
Cheers

The Hornet costs around 101000 on road where as the Apache 200 at 106000 and NS is another 2K. More.Originally posted by Johnty View PostWill look for that thank you

Any thoughts on Apche 200 ?
Apache 200V is good and has a refined Engine. But the pillion seat is not that comfy. Try it once.
Also, in case of Hornet, make sure the Horns and Pass light switch is accessible without moving hand from the handle bars. For Me, those switches were quite out of reach.

Where I live the hornet's on road is 98000, apache 200 is 114000 and the ns is 120000. Tried the pulsar but havent tried the apache 200. Some of my friends say that it is underpowered also the performance gap with the ns is too great. Is it so? Please enlighten me about this.
And for the second thing as my hands are big the hornet-switch issue is non existent .
Thank you for your suggestion.

Re: Need advice about buying a bike within 1Lakh
I just got the Quotation for Hornet, Gixxer and Apache here and they don't have much difference in their prices. Regarding the performance, on the spec sheet Apache has lesser power but it does 0 to 60 KmpH in 3.6 seconds, the same as NS. But Apache takes more than 11 seconds for 0 to 100 while NS does it in 9.2 to 9.8 seconds (forgot the exact number). Considering practicality it won't be much of an issue. As all we need is a good low end torque in cities.Originally posted by Johnty View PostWhere I live the hornet's on road is 98000, apache 200 is 114000 and the ns is 120000. Regarding Hornet switchgear, I'm 5'11" and my hand is pretty big. Still I felt the horn and pass switch being placed far away. And Hornet felt quite under powered. May be because I come from NS.
Test ride the Apache and make sure it's good for pillion. Because, the seat is a split seat.
