  • Help, Choosing between Fz25 and RtR200

    Hello all,

My friend looking for a bike in the market. His main usage is daily office commute(75%) and occasional touring(25%). We both discussed, shortlisted fz25 and RtR200 by mileage, refineness and comfort.
Help us to find the best of these two.

    Thank you.

    Query Approved

I do not know about fuel efficiency, but the Yammie is anyday better in terms of refinement and comfort.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Rtr200 and FZ25 is like rtr160 and rtr180 respectively in terms performance and price difference.
Both are air cooled, with oil cooler and 5 gears .
Both bikes are made to perform better on city with good low and midrange compared to NS&200 Duke.

Note: rtr200 will be available with ABS soon.

      Cheers.

Yammie much better any day in comparison to tvs apache... since most of the ride is in the city fz25 wins by a great margin here due to its nimble nature & easy maneouverability in traffic & loads of low end torque...

hi imam, going by your friend's requirements one by one.I think your friend needs a powerful commuter, which is easy on pocket (maintenance & fuel efficiency)
          1) mileage means fulltank range, but i hope you meant fuel efficiency.Yamaha fz 250 is inversely proprtional to fuel efficiency, apache wins here.
          2) Refinement - I test rode apache rtr 200 carb variant. Trust it is not like any other tvs bikes. Its refinement and acceleration, both are awesome.
Reviews also reveals the refinement levels are maintained at all rpm.
          3) Comfort - Only test ride can say.

Many of us have a liking/high opinion for a particular brand. But times are changing. All manufacturers are surprising us in terms of refinement and performance with their product. So don't jump on to conclusions considering the brand name. Ask your friend to test ride both the bike. Most importantly ask your friend to enquire about service intervals, spares cost which could give him an idea about ownership cost.
If possible ask him to consider Pulsar NS 200 also

Hey guys if thread is still active.
I need same help fz25 or apache 200

As my riding will be city riding and I am not going post 100 km/h

              My main concern is that
I want stress free ownership (not regular visits to service center), better fuel economy won't hurt 😅

And as I travel alot and bike stays at home alone 😟 for 10-12 days.
It should start without much problem as it stays unused for those 10-12 days.

Fuel prices injection bike starts quickly, but apache 200 carb can show me a little problems?
              Regarding that?

Go with fz25. It's fun to ride in city as well as on highway. In city fz25 scores lot more compare to apache200 ( my personal opinion )
In your particular case, FI may help you.

Both bikes are very good... U just have to decide wat u want.. performance of both the bikes are equally good in city as well as on highway. U will only feel the difference between power when u are doing 0-100 sprint & for that fz-250 is faster... But for better handling & cornering capabilities rtr200 is bang for ur buck overall i would say rtr200 is more vfm & refinement level of rtr200 is top notch no vibrations at all. So just think do u really want to spend extra 20 to30k for the fz-250.

                    Yes. I agree.

If money is not an issue then FZ25 makes more sense.
If you ride more on highways then you should pick FZ25.
FZ25 has better refinement compared to RTR200.

Going through the last few pages of RTR thread, the bike seems to have few niggles and refinement level have also taken a hit after piling up few k kms.

No matter what bike you take, do make sure to have an ABS. I ride cbr250r ABS (which is not the bike on your list), but then having an ABS is a life saver. From personal experience, when I was on 90+kmph on highway, a truck ahead of me pulled a hard brake and turned right towards me. If it wasn't for the ABS, I could've been badly hurt.

Good luck with the new bike.
                      Safe ride, cheers!

What about going 100kms plus speed.? Which one is better?

Both bikes can cruise on 100 to 110 kmph whole day no issues there.

Yammie over the TVS anyday. Yammie has a much nimble engine for city commute and a very refined engine too for the tourer types. Fuel efficiency won't be a big thing since its just a few numbers apart. Would suggest you FZ25.

Yamaha it would be - however here is one thing I didn't like about FZ 25 - it doesn't feel premium, on the other hand RTR 200 seems to offer a lot in that price range. I wish TVS would make FI+ABS available soon.
