      If the requirement is to commute exclusively within the city, then a 125cc will be sufficient enough. Both Honda Shine and Yamaha Saluto are good prospects. But Passion is too under powered imo.
      Go for 150cc if requirement is city riding + occasional long rides. While the Uni is tried an tested for more than a decade, I haven't heard lack of comfort in SZ-RR till date. And going by the age of your friend(no offense please), I'd advise against going for a bike with sporty riding postures.

        Test drove FZ25 recently.

        Didn't liked the riding posture, big bulky fuel tank, price (dealer quoting 1.4lakh OTR)

        Liked the throttle response, refinement, power.

        Will test drive RTR200 next.

          Took a look at RTR200, riding posture felt familiar and confurtable and way better than FZ25, no test drive was available though.

          My only doubt with RTR is dubious long term reliability.

          Currently in a fix between FZ25 and RTR200 Fi

            The Apache is definitely more spirited and more fun to ride both in urban conditions and the twisties when compared to the FZ25. In addition to that the Apache also gives you the safety net of ABS which I think is the biggest advantage.The Apache should also be more fuel efficient to the FZ25.

            However wrt reliability and refinement, I think the Japanese are unbeatable. Test ride the Apache, if its spirited nature doesn't appeal to you, the FZ25 seems to be the better option.

              Hey Shumi, thanks for you advice. Im not a spirited rider myself and prefer to maintain relaxed cruising speed over red light motogp. Yes, I too feel Yamaha will be more reliable than Apache. Definitely leaning over FZ, lets see how thinks pan out.

                As you are afraid of Fairing noise, I can say that gixxer sf has no Fairing sound issues. It is well built, moreover it has abs. I'm saying this as I own gixxer sf for about 2 years. And I don't hear a single noise from the Fairing.

                  I have owned Bajaj Chetak , Bajaj 4x champion and Bajaj XCD 125 DTS-I for 11 years the longest of the lot , done almost 1 lakh KMS .....never had any major engine problems other than the usual wear and tear parts like chain and tyres etc etc .
                  Based on that bought a NS200 2017 edition 6 months back , having a mileage problems other than that no issues at all .

                  The only thing I trust Bajaj with is their engine and chassis knowledge they are definitely one of the best in the market . I can vouch that they do use sub standard quality material for things like mirrors , stands , leg supports etc but never on things like engine , chain etc.

                  Most of the time the Bajaj service centre guys will only ruin the bike ( personal experience ) . Find a proper good mechanic and Bajaj bikes are one of the best ! .

                    Of the three , i would say FZ is the most refined. Gixxer and Hornet are evenly matched in refinement with Gixxer having well laid gear ratios for city riding. Hornet has a smoother Gear box.

                    TVS bikes were never unreliable. They would certainly be more reliable than the Pulsars. Of course the RTR 160, 180 were high on vibrations, but that deficit has been evened out in the 200.

                          The Apache 160 4v will suit you. The smoothest bike I've ever ridden. Comfort is subjective, though I had no issues with it. It has power close to 180cc bikes. The cost may be a few thousands below or above 1 lakh depending upon your location.

                            There are many bikes below 1lakh, but no matter how many suggestions you get, you'll have to test ride them and make a decision.

                            If you intend to spend slightly higher, I strongly recommend the TVS Apache 200 RTR 4V Race edition 2.0. Its a phenomenally engineered bike that not only has top class features, but is reliable and has good service support.
                            Check out the ownership thread for reviews, pros and cons. See if that fits you.

                                I would suggest the Gixxer series, either the naked version or the SF, the former being a formidable street weapon while the latter being a lethal highway machine both of them are beautifully engineered and since it's Japanese you don't have to worry about reliability and it's almost vibe free. Not as smooth as the RTR 160 though.
                                The RTR 200 is a great machine though it lacks the top end and is mostly vibe-free throughout the rev range.
