Re: Ktm duke 390 2017 or thunderbird 500
Congrats. That's the perfect bike for both city and touring and vfm. Only let down is Bajaj's reliability, that we have to wait and watch.Originally posted by connoisseur.rohit View Post

I have the same bike on mind.
I will also be booking thunderbird500 in couple of days.
I m just zeroing on the colour.
People can you please guide me through the colour(matte) pros and cons.
Since my bike will be parked most of the time in open without a shed during daytime.

ht511, you mentioned about the problem faced during your ride, still you are looking to book the TB500, any reason why?Originally posted by ht511 View PostCongratulations.

Did you speak to showroom staff about niggles/problems being solved?
Thanks in advance.

Though my original choice would have been TBH500 Matte black(it looks killer in this color), I never come across any blog/video activitly rooting for this color. Firstly, RE doesnt give warranty of this color, secondly, you have be really careful about not touching your bike with greasy hands. So everytime it gets dirty, just wash it with plain water first and dry it with a clean cloth. No waxing, no polishing either.
One motovlogger advised to used colin to clean it though as it doesnt harm the color.
Cheers,
Rohit

Re: Ktm duke 390 2017 or thunderbird 500
Congrats and best of luck. I'd suggest learn to fix small niggles here and there. The bikes got prestige, but that's it. Reliability is what you need when you spend a fortune. Sadly that's not the norm with the RE. I'm not saying they're all that bad. If you're lucky you'll get a good one. 390 was never gonna be ideal for daily commute to work during peak traffic.Originally posted by ht511 View PostCongratulations.

Hey guys I am a newbie here...just had to comment on all the thunderbird bashing on the forum...I am 6.1 ft and have been riding the tb350 since Aug 2016...the bike is just superb according to me if you are a sedate rider like me..I use it mostly for city riding and have also used it for touring..apart from a few niggles the bike is really good..I just do my bit of always keeping it covered post my rides and some regular diy maintenance...it's a bit overpriced I agree but it's definitely worth it I feel...cheers!!

Re: Ktm duke 390 2017 or thunderbird 500
if you've already booked the TB, congrats. i was in the same position as you last month. i'd already sold my TB350 in 2015 after using it for a year due to the bad quality of the bike and the service provided. was entertaining getting a different RE but a relative of mine who happens to be a spares supplier for RE advised me against the buy citing the bad QA at enfield. RE is just implementing tighter QA guidelines and it will take a year or more for that to trickle down and reflect in quality RE products. all that said, i hope you get a good bike that doesn't trouble you muchOriginally posted by ht511 View PostIts the feel (comfort) I got while riding it.niggles can be taken care off.plus I m 32, it suits me the most.

people are just sharing their experiences with RE. when just stating RL experiences appears to be bashing then that says more about the quality than anything else.Originally posted by vj007 View PostHey guys I am a newbie here...just had to comment on all the thunderbird bashing on the forum...I am 6.1 ft and have been riding the tb350 since Aug 2016...the bike is just superb according to me if you are a sedate rider like me..I use it mostly for city riding and have also used it for touring..apart from a few niggles the bike is really good..I just do my bit of always keeping it covered post my rides and some regular diy maintenance...it's a bit overpriced I agree but it's definitely worth it I feel...cheers!!

I just shared my experience buddy..nothing else..I think some of us have had a bad experience with the brand..but barring the svc the bike seems to perform as per my expectations pretty well...I too was overly apprehensive about booking it last year but this is the 2nd tb350 in the family..the first having clocked around 70k kms and really not caused many problems except normal wear and tear..again just sharing my experience guys..peace!!![emoji111]️[emoji111]️Originally posted by dexterz View Postif you've already booked the TB, congrats. i was in the same position as you last month. i'd already sold my TB350 in 2015 after using it for a year due to the bad quality of the bike and the service provided. was entertaining getting a different RE but a relative of mine who happens to be a spares supplier for RE advised me against the buy citing the bad QA at enfield. I am 40+ and actively looking at buying a bike again after a gap of almost 18 years of not owning one. My post should appear under this sub-forum as soon a mod approves. However my limited point, if you're fit, and have no issues relating to health of bones / joints, age shouldn't be a barrier!
