Guys, everyone cannot maintain bikes like you guys do and hence things go wrong leading to worn out / damaged parts that need replacement at services and that definitely costs. You guys think that little money & some time spend on taking care of the bike is worth it but not everyone is like that. Many of us don't mind paying some extra money and replacing cheaper parts regularly.

Let us keep the TCO (total cost of ownership) concept aside and help the guy choose his bike
KP, I have never got a bill above 240 bucks for a general service for my Zma. Whatever I spent to replace the parts are when I had an accident. Other than worn-out disc pads, I have not changed any other part because of wearing issues. At 32000 km, I changed clutch plates on my own thought still I was told I could manage 5k more kilometers.

The cost of ownership is a little on higher side to other premium bikes and not very very high as others perceived.

Understood . What I'm trying to point out is that if you do an OEM - OEM comparison, except for the break pads the TCO is almost the same for both bikes. There are cheaper alternates available for the brake pads if you don't want to splurge on the nissins. The unicorn's pads (Rs. 300) are a direct fit. The ASK pads (Rs. 100) are available.

One more thing I've noticed (based on my ownership of the classic CBZ) is that the wear of HH parts is lesser! Believe it or not, i didn't have to change the clutch or throttle cables for almost 50k km.

read the whole thread now - two posts (good ones Mr. Tripathy ) were best!

in the end, it's always the owner's perspective

@thread starter - both bikes are good in their own respective ways. Spend some time with both of them and decide!

The ZMA is a Honda and nothing comes close to a Honda. Pulsar is a Bajaj, and well Bajaj is Bajaj.

Ride both bikes from friends, and see what your heart wants. Both are more or less very capable bikes! Both are different in terms of what they have to offer, and both are equally exciting. And lastly, both are far from perfect and have a few trade offs.

Its entirely upto you to decide what is the trade off that you want to settle for!

PS: As far as touring goes, well that again is an entirely personal thing! You can tour on a TVS 50 if you want! Its the biker atop the bike than the bike when it comes to touring! Don't forget that!
            Here is your answer.

Errr, doesnt the poll say it all? Look at the votes for the ZMA
A Honda is a Honda is a HONDA pal.
But still, just wait for a while to see what Bajaj is offering on the new upgraded Pulsar 200

Come on man, stop pulling their socks!
When the P150 and P180 are almost out (next week i suppose), the P200 will also be out soon. Didnt Bajaj promise one updated / new bike per month, remember

Dude, If you want the xBhpians what to decide the bike, you should get the answer by now. The vote till now is 20:2 in favor of ZMA. Still if you want to go for a P200, go for it. It is also a wonderful bike. No point in repeating same things again and again and engaging in a brand war.

Hey Guys, thanks for all your responses. I appreciate the time taken out by you. Although I think Samarth, Praful, Aryan and Motormania's suggestions are going to help me the most the decide.

I would request Mods to lock this topic for the time being until I buy the bike and I can post the news here . The locking is only to ensure that no brand wars go on :-P
