Fz 25 VS Dominar 400. Advice please.
Hey fellows. I've decided to buy a new bike. My current motor is a 2011 Fz s. There are no problems with it, just that I'm bored of it. I mean, I'm all for reliability, but not so much reliability that I get bored. Also, the power of it is gentle and now I want something bigger. So I've test ridden the Fz 25, and I quite like it. It feels like a bigger more powerful Fz. It's everything I've ever wanted. But then, the competition is too worthy. Dominar, I've registered for a test ride since they don't have tests here yet. Now,i'm a college student, and ride daily to and fro college, to and fro friends houses, and general roaming. Apart from that, I do longer rides also, every weekend a 50-100 Kms ride, and a proper big ride (400 kms+) every few months. I am average tall at 5 feet 6 inches. Considering my riding pattern, I think the Fz would be the sensible choice. But I want more power, and also, ABS! For God's sake why Yamaha chose to omit ABS from this vehicle I don't understand. 3rd the headlights. These 3 are the only tipping points I have towards the dominar. But the Fz is lighter, cheaper to own and run, easier. Can you guys please shine some LEDs on this matter and suggest? Is ABS really that important? I loved the RC 390s engine, and I think I'd love the dominars as well, though detuned.Tags: None

Approved!
Loved this:

Some photons from my end: Yes ABS is good to have. It's all about a rider's skills but most of us are just amateur riders to be frank. A good rider + ABS + good road mannerisms will keep you and others healthy for a long duration.
Happy hunting!Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

hello my fellow rider its better if u opt out bike having ABS,the main reason i'm pointing out is we are living in india where pedestrian wont give a crap for road value and too the autorikshas....so being here its healthy for you to choose dominar or some other bike with ABS

Re: Fz 25 VS Dominar 400. Advice please.
Not bored, you are outgrown with the present bike.
From 160CC, there is no point in going with 250CC.
FZ25 though collects wonderful reviews from the owners, however you ought to select bikes in 400-600 cc, to keep your upward growth potential and in set budget.
Every bike above 150cc has ABS than you have a choice. Current market scenario of ABS is like mercy by manufacturer, which limits your choices. Just enjoy the bike you love for the time being. Hope at the end 400-600cc you have more choices with ABS.
Cheers, avoid noise pollution ! Don't blow horn.Last edited by mknaidu11; 05-31-2017, 08:31 PM.Avoid noise pollution. Avoid honking.

If budget allows, go for Dominar. But you might have to sacrifice the smoothness of the Yammy. There will be vibrating body panels and the engine will be rough. This is very noticeable for people who have owned the Japs for a considerable amount of time (I am one of them). If it doesn't bother you, go for it. It is the best value for money and you get all the bells and whistles one could ask for in the price range.
FZ25 - you being a owner of FZ, I don't think I have to elaborate. But I will however mention that it is quicker than Duke 250 in one of the test videos on youtube. I am not sure how credible the drag race was; it still is an upgrade over your current steed.
So it all depends on what you really want in your new bike. If you just want a bigger brother of your current bike, FZ25 fits the job description perfectly and you will be happy. If you want all the latest gadgets and have the budget to pay for them, get the Dominar.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Thank you all, for prompt replies. Ankey mknaidu11 vaishak rajiv. So what I've gathered is that
1. Abs is a big plus.
2. Fz 25 is good and all, but not that much of an upgrade.
I have a question, how much does the D400 vibrate? To give you a scale, the vibes from an RC390 are perfectly acceptable to me. But the vibes that an Apache 160 gives are painful. So if anyone has ridden one, could you describe?
If only I could get a test ride. The Bajaj dealer won't let me td!

Seems like you have already decided to opt a Dominor 400. Well on paper Dominor beats its every rival. ABS is a life saver.
As per the reviews, Dominor 400 vibrates lesser than its cousin i.e Duke 390. But a proper test drive is the only option left with you to make your mind comfortable. Try to get TD of the same anyhow.

Re: Fz 25 VS Dominar 400. Advice please.
Hi abhishyam2016, I test rode both the bikes last weekend here are my thoughts. Even though I ride a RTR 180, which vibrates quite a bit I felt Dominar quite buzzy especially in the handlebars and tank area from 4-6k RPM. Maybe, coz it's a badly maintained bike, but loved the power delivery and the fact it didn't seem that heavy in traffic despite me being similar height as you. FZ 25 on the other hand was a revelation, the bike pulled really well from the moment I twisted the throttle and the engine is very refined, plus the bike is quite nimble just like it's younger sibling. However, it doesn't have ABS and the LED headlight kept shaking with the road which was annoying. There's quite a price difference too, FZ at 1.54 l and Dominar at 1.9 l on road Bangalore. For the headlight issue, you could probably get some aux lamps although ABS is a miss in FZ. I personally am waiting for the BMW 310 or Akula. Take your pick, ride both extensively. If available, get rentals or borrow from a friend and try out the bikes for a day or two since test rides are too short to decide.

Wilson4willy no i havent decided, that's why this thread exists. I've told the dealer to call me when test vehicle arrives. tripping_billie I could have waited for the BMW, but then it would be above 2Lk on road, and I don't know if dad would spend that. And the constant delays are quite off putting. The akula, well, I like it, but I wonder if it will be too much for my frame..

Well my bad but I guess your mind is more inclined towards Dominor 400, isnt it? And about G310r and/or Akula the price will definitely cross 2.2 lakhs(thanks to GST though) and only god and TVS knows when its going to launch in India.Originally posted by abhishyam2016 View PostWilson4willy no i havent decided, that's why this thread exists. One thing you need to keep in mind that there is no replacement for the displacement. A 373cc or a 250cc, what you want? My vote will be for Dominor.☺

Re: Fz 25 VS Dominar 400. Advice please.
All new bikes and old badly maintained bikes have vibes. Coming to the D400, it vibrates less than RC390, but there is a buzziness in the mid range. Not bothersome, but that's how the engine tuning is! RTR vibes far more in comparo (though its vibes are blown out of proportion on xBhp).Originally posted by abhishyam2016 View PostI have a question, how much does the D400 vibrate?
