  • Totally confused!

i am a 1st year engineering student from hyderabad.i am confused between
    ZMA
    APACHE RTR FI 160
    R15
    FZ16
i need the buy for four years until engg. completes.i know i am listing all the available bikes which is a tough choice.i have completed around 80,000 kms riding since 4 years.i have not done any touring on bikes but plan to tour when i get a new bike occasionally for like 600km trip.budget not that much of a problem.but i ride daily in traffic in the morning around 30 kms one way.should have pick up if not top speed and the most main thing is that it should keep me entertained for like four years.i want to modify the bike by putting HIDs and k&n.but i dont think i can do that in yamaha due to battery problems and no kickrod.is kickrod option available in yamaha?what if the battery dies and is HID possible on these bikes?expectations are high but this is what i want. Please help me in choosing a bike

The RTR 160 Fi but no K&N... this already sounds so nice if that is what you are after... if you just want the K&N then go with the Karizma, add a K&N and do up jetting.

        Whats your height ?

If you are above 5'10" or so, you might find RTRs and R15s a bit cramped in the long run. Of course you can adjust, if one is so inclined he can adjust into anything. But it might not be very confy !!

For solely city rides, FZ16 is a good option, but the mileage is on the lower side !

Test ride all and then decide !
Kawasaki Ninja : Because lazy sunday afternoons should be despatched at 160 kmph!!!
Hyosung Aquila : Because sometimes you need to look cool while riding at 40 kmph and you can do that only on a cruiser !!!

some people at 5'10" have complained of the FZ16's tank hitting knees and people at 6'2" were very happy with the rearsets on RTR & R15 giving them a comfortable ride.

Test ride the bikes before you decide. Yes, the Yamaha's have a lower amperage battery's.

I ve been riding Zma for a while(almost 3 years),and also I am an engineering student(2nd year) so according to you I would prefer Apache RTR 160 Fi coz you will never get bored in the traffic with the power, roar and handling of the bike.I simply love it and when I revv it ppl ask have u fitted K&N and I say its stock and I love it.

Go for P220. It can easily take whatever mods you are planning. Don't worry about the kickrod. Many bikes don't have it these days. Which college do you study in btw?

i heard that P220 is quite good but its a bit high maintenance.I study in Muffakham Jah College Of Engineering And Technology,Banjara Hills
My height is 5'11".and that yamaha showroom guy is not giving me a testride.he gives me the bike in the cellar of his showroom and thats what he calls a test ride.but is RTR FI 160 reliable and comfy on long rides?i mean is it a tourer.my personal favourites are R15 and FZ16.but my gf and my mom are telling me that R15 looks too show off types and cant use it in daily traffic.but the FZ16 i cant take on long rides.so they are telling me to take either ZMA or RTR.what do you guys feel?which is better for both city and touring(not so frequently also)?

R15 is not that traffic friendly compared to the others. P220 is a premium bike, so more maintenance.
I have never ridden an RTR on a highway, so can't comment on that. However, in the city it is excellent. Don't worry about height-my friend who has an RTR is 6 feet tall&he never complained even once.

Pl throw some mre light on thuis. Just coz its a premium bike doesnt mean it will demand more maintenance

007roy : the RTR aint that good a tourer : but an awesome bike for the city nonetheless.

then looking at all the other bikes it all come down to ZMA i guess then.will wait for a month.will test ride RTR 180 and then should decide.for now looks like i would have to strike out R15 FZ and RTR.but just hope that i never get bored if i drive the ZMA.but even though the engine is air cooled how is the ZMA such a good tourer?its been around for 6 years now but recently on tv i saw that between P220 RTRFI160 and ZMA,ZMA won the race.is it still faster than all the other bikes even without FI and the latest add ons?

dude why dont u wait for rtr 180....
if u tour and want reliability and comfort- zma is the choice
if u ride in city - rtrfi is the choice
if u ride mostly on highways - r15 is the choice
if u ride in traffic and want more torque - pulsar 220 is the choice
                              i personally dont like fz...
                              pulsar 220 dts-fi clocks 145kmph!
