Re: Help me choose between pulsar ns 2017 200 , as 200 and hornet 160

Well guys I'm in a big big dilemma right now......
I test rode fz25 and loved the acceleration .kind of high tech Enfield with great handling + speed haha. I have read all 200 + pages of fz25 ownership and the headlight is satisfactory once you adjust it to raise it to top level it seems(fellow xbhpians said) and for me highways + nights+2lane+twisties is always below 80 so not a big of a problem I guess.
My doubt is might seem funny but the ENGINE TECH of the ns200 and fz250. Fz250 is yet to prove it's sturdiness and the copper washers tend to fail for some fellow xbhpians. Ns200 is now a bit proven machine I guess...I'll loose that huge torque for some money saved ie nrs60000 around if I go with NS.

I tend to care and keep my bike for 7+ years at least. So I have a cold spot somewhere for the Yamaha engine. I may be completely wrong and I wish to be wrong as I liked fz a lot and I will surely miss the pull with a pillion that fz does ...it's mind boggling..

How would you guys compare reliability of NS engine and yammy engine.i get that it's a no-brainer but since Yamaha has yet to prove this engine...I'm thinking for the NS as a competitor. Also gear shifts in both bikes said to be not top notch. So huge confusion. I do want a reliable engine.and yes Yamaha messes sometimes I guess....my brother used to get 29 on fz16 first model....recent models with Fi and all returns him 47 .

Since you've ridden both bikes which do you prefer? I prefer torque low down over big power higher in the rev range. The Pulsar will definitely be more rev happy and most people will definitely prefer that. The Pulsar has been around long enough that they've most likely sorted all the issues and made it more refined.

Ride the 2017 NS and make a decision in my opinion.

Yes I tested both bikes but didn't had chance to take it to the hills.im sure fz25 will pull me through everywhere but I don't know how NS would behave at steep roads with turns . Also I do like the feeling of fz25. But is it really better engine than the NS in terms of reliability?given all those liquid cooling and all.

Just a question Manjish, what is the cost of Dominar in Nepal?

It's on a bit expensive side neeraj. Dominar is Nrs 460000 making it out of my budget. I think im rounding off on fz25 . And I hope the coin ringing sound that some have said is just overreactions. I'm in such a huge dilemma as bikes here costs 2-2.5 times expensive than in India due to tax of 200+% .
Hyundai i10 is Nrs 20+ lakhs here....probably most expensive market for vehicles in the whole world.

Re: Help me choose between pulsar ns 2017 200 , as 200 and hornet 160

Nope nope!!!! I'm still waiting to pull the trigger. Few owner ship posts of fz25 suggest vibrations now hahaha. Probably till tuesday I'll wait.

I am looking at the fz25 just and just for the sake of reliability. And it seems they are not that reliable anymore. Also Japanese engineering might be a hype. It's hardcore monsoon now in Nepal and the Japanese could not even design the proper mudguards for the bike. Every bike I see has atleast a kilo of mud .our roads become off roads in the middle of the city hahaha . Not that it's something that I cant rectify. But why should I ?
Also 3 days ago a friend of mine had strange sound from engine of fz16.....engine was fine but sound was not. At 11000 kms service centre had to change crankshaft and few bearings.and the cost was nrs 10000+. So I'm in a huge doubt that Yamaha India does any better job than Bajaj India.
And the fz25 might have the famous bottom scraping that happens with pillion on every fz 16. Since GC of both bikes the same at 160mm...I doubt this fz25 will also contact the bumps and bad patches of road from below engine if I didn't saw and didn't slowed down.
Also 45k more price that too for a not proven engine (adding blue core with light pistons and slimmer rings and huge weight reductions makes it different than that of xt250 though similar)and when initial impression from the owners is not that great , I feel very very scared to go with yammy hahaha.and it's also funny that I'm considering yammy and Bajaj as competitors ....that too in view of quality.

Help me decide guys. I only want a reliable bike.super reliable bike. bike that is able to do 110 cruise ....with a bit power left to overtake and maybe sometime for adranaline .that's it.
I have came to an agreement with my heart that I'd enjoy both pulsar NS and fz25. Though pulsar ns is bit sluggish compared to fz25 , I can live with it IF it's more reliable.

Guys what do you think. Help help help hehe. Need huge help .

Ok so got the bike yesterday....50 kms and I like it already. Runin period is not going to be pathetic.ample power for city at even 4500 rmp.loved the sound and the low rpm torque .

Nice choice. Go through the run in period as prescribed by the doctors!

Sure krishna...yep been riding sanely. Wanted to runin this engine and see if it really matters. So no crossing 5k rpm and lots of gear changing. Also I'm satisfied going with fz. Have to see how it behaves after clocking more miles.
