  • Used bike suggestion

    Hello,
This is my first thread here, let me know if I need to provide additional information about anything.

    1. Budget: 50-60k INR for used
    2. Age: 30
    3. Height: 5'10"
    4. Weight: I will almost always have the pillion seat occupied so the combined weight would be around 140 kgs.
    5. Intended usage: To commute daily and go over long distances on the weekends
    6. Fuel Efficiency requirement: Anything over 30 is fine for me.
    7. Approximate Daily / Monthly running: Daily running distance would be around 20-30 kms and it will be long distances over the weekends
    8. City / Town /Village of residence: I live in Pune but will be moving to Goa soon and there are a lot of steep uphill climbs on the roads in Goa.
    9. I don't have any preference in brands.

With a budget of 50k approximately what kind of used bikes would fall under this budget. My requirements emphasize on the following:
    1. Comfort for front and back seats as I will be going long distances over the weekends, always with a pillion.
    2. Power for the same reason as above.
    3. Would be great if the bike doesnt require a lot of maintenance.

I only have experience of riding a limited pool of bikes so any information would be greatly welcome!
    Cheers

Pulsar NS200 is the best you can get at that price. I see pre-owned ones, 2013-14, going for 50-55k

Apache RTR180 and Hero Karizma - both are suitable for your usage. If you prefer cruiser type, Avenger 220 is another choice.

I have seen more than few of those aswell on some websites. Is it true pulsars and mostly bajaj bikes tend to worsen after the first couple years(more than the other brands) ? I have read in one the threads here saying the new bikes are better and dont suffer from this.

Avenger is one of the ones I had on my mind since I have had one in the past. I saw a lot of rtr 180 selling really cheap online, I think I l try it out this weekend.
Also, what should be the age limit of buying used bikes as a general rule?

Thanks guys for the prompt reponse.

All bikes tend to wear if not maintained. I ride an almost 8.5 years old Pulsar and the engine is in pristine condition.

Though yes the users tend to screw Bajaj bikes and the already idiot mechanics since Bajaj uses different technology compared to others. Read better hardware and twin spark plugs.

            Cheers !

If you can extend your budget a bit then the CBR 250 fits the bill perfectly. Really cheap to maintain. Has an awesome engine.

At the place I live, you can get cbr250 easily under a lakh. A friend of mine recently sold his own moonwhite 250 for 60k. Had 21k kilometres done.

Wow thats an awesome deal and it fits my budget to! I wish I could have got that.
I am going to search for it here. Maybe someone sells it that low here aswell.

Can you comment about the comfort on NS200? Is it comfortable for the pillion driver and at long distances?
The reason is I have an offer on a 2014 Bajaj NS200 that has run 7,500 KMs only.
Also can anyone tell me if 60k INR is worth this bike ?

For 60k, it's more than 'vfm' but negotiating is always possible. Comfort? I haven't ridden one yet but I've heard the pillion comfort is okay-ish, not too bad. Long distance may be a pain in the butt.
But, check the condition too, any recurring problems or has the bike crashed or not..

Can anoyone who has owned or ridden NS200 comment on how comfortable the front and back seats are?
Yeah the bike is in good condition, just I am not sure how much should I pay for it.
                          Thanks in advance guys

NS200 seats are pretty hard. Casual city commutes are good. But taking it for touring, Gel seat is advised. If yuh can take it at 55k it's a pretty good steal. 😊

Can you also comment on the rear suspension? A lot of reviews say the suspensions are really hard adding to the discomfort, even at the lowest settings. Is there a way around this?
Yeah I can try to get it to 55k if I finalize on NS.
                              Thanks
