    Re: Used bike suggestion

Yes NS has a really hard seat and pillion will suffer more in long tours, But it is one of the best bikes in Indian market and a good VFM piece, If you can change the seat with cushion one go for it, else find some other bike which suits your requirements. And Karizma r1.0...I too own one and the comfort level is awesome for the rider and pillion.

Hi i am sorry i couldn't respond earlier i lost my phone. Is the seat the only culprit for the pillion discomfort? Or the suspension is to blame as well. I am willing to mod both the seats on the bike. Thanks

          Re: Used bike suggestion

I am going to test ride this ns 200 tomorrow can you guys give me some pointers to check? It looks excellent
Also i am concerned about the engine, the owner is very trustworthy and he told me he has ridden the bike probably a few kms once or twice a week. And the last servicing the bike recieved was last year, so the oil hasn't been changed since more than an year and i dont think he used synthetic oil. Someone who knows more than me said that this will have messed up the engine. That he should have replaced the oil within 6 months anyhow. So should i assume this is an issue and how big is this problem? Enough to look for better options? I am assuming the bike has run over 1-2 thousand kms during this duration. Sorry for asking so many questions, please let me know if i should post these questions elsewhere.
          Thank you

What the price he is quoting...?
Check the chain sprocket, Look out for if any cracks or damages in the fairing or fork bend, those indicates if the bike had any history of accidents, check the silencer smoke for any black or white smoke.

Engine oils has to be changed every XXXXkms and not by duration, But if the oil never gets hot the condensation will not burn off and wind up in oil, Ensure the bike is in good condition by taking a trusted mechanic along with you.

He had quoted 60 k when we last talked, I will try to get it to 55 if possible.
Yes I am taking a friend who knows a lot about bikes . Would I notice bent fork if i ride it for a few kilometres? Thanks I will check all those. But i am sure the bike has never been in an accident, the owner rides it like splendor.
Are you sure the engine oil needs to be replaced by predefined kms and not by duration? I was under the impression that 5000 kms or 6 months whichever happens first. So then the what i was told about normal engine oil starts to disintegrate after 6 months is false? (yes I am a newbie)
Cause if what you are saying goes then I probably will buy that bike rightaway since that's my only worry!
Also I asked him to replace the oil tomorrow and i will be keeping the bike with me for half the day atleast.
              Thanks a lot

                Re: Used bike suggestion

Is 65 k good for this ? The bike is in excellent condition so it really has been ridden less i.e.,7500 kms. Its 3 years old. Turned out there was some miscommunication about the price and it was not 60 k but 65k.
So in total the bike will cost around 75 k plus to transfer and transport to Pune. Do you guys think its worth buying this for a little less than 80k?
I am in a dilemma. Will continue to look at other options till then.

Not at all worth it at that price point. Better look for a CBR 250R in 80-90k range.

I am curious since I don't really need top speed and acceleration, are 150-160 cc bikes good for me ? Also which bikes are the most comfortable for rider and pillion both?

Get a 200CC and above. You will outgrow a 150/160CC very soon and would feel the urge to upgrade. CBR250R has pretty good comfort for both rider and pillion.

Agreed! Ninja 250 outgrew me in matter of one year and I had to settle with a bigger displacement bike! Not that Ninja 250 is a disappointment or something! But yes, small bikes will outgrow us soon hence it is always better to buy a bigger capacity bike when your budget allows! Of course one has to invest on proper riding gears

                          Re: Used bike suggestion

So I shouldn't opt for any 150 cc? I have been trying to find cbr 250 for under 70 k but with no luck. Even that is stretching my initial budget of 60. I have decided to get the bike from Goa and If I don't find anything by the first week of Dec I will have to look for a new bike. So I have a couple weeks to find something good in Goa classifieds.
I had a few bikes on my mind while looking for used ones :
                          Avenger 220
                          Pulsar ns/as 200
Lower than 180 cc bikes like
                          Cb hornet 160R
Gixxer(but I think it's not comfortable for the pillion)
Some bikes suggested by members here
                          Karizma
                          Cbr250
                          Apache
Can you guys suggest if there are any other models I should add to my list while searching and if I should remove any. Personally I do not like how Karizma and apache look that much but if they are in excellent condition I can consider them aswell.

                            Re: Used bike suggestion

I would suggest to look at CBR 250R (preferred option). If not that look at R15S if you really cant get a CBR 250R. Both these bikes have a great engine, are very reliable, and are very forgiving. Spares are pretty cheap considering the fact that they are premium segment bikes.
The reason I suggested R15S as last option is due to fact that it is better than the engine in Avenger 220/Pulsar 220.

I found a cbr 250 selling cheap here and went to check it out but it wasn't in good condition. It had run around 50k kms and was from 2012.
Also isn't r15 terrible for pillion comfort? I won't get food if the pillion is unhappy with the seat she already hates the Dukes.
