  • 650F or TNT 600i ABS? - Booked TNT300!

    Dear fellow riders,

This is the week. And now is the time. I will finally be putting money down on a super bike. But I need your opinion

    CBR 650F or TNT 600i ? ? ?

After few months of following up here on forums . I have narrowed down my choices between these two.

    CBR650F___________600i
    Ex-Stock_______Ex-Stock
    8.51 L _________7.19L+55k Exhaust= 7.74L [ON ROAD]

To me it doesnt really matter ride style and stuff, because both have their pro's and cons.

Do you think i should just bite the cake and buy more expensive 650f? or the difference is just not worth it? what about long run service costs?

Note: Striple 9.64 On road and Z800 9.32 on road. Both , just too expensive for my taste. bust still can be considered)
Being on two wheels is being liberated. The vastness one feels being under the open sky. The whole feeling. . . cant be described.

    Ride safe, Ride long.

    Query Approved

If you can afford the Honda then nothing like it. But street, naked, faired, touring, what?
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

IMO the 650 isn't worth the asking price. ..the 600 had that awesome sound but no performance down low..i know you narrowed down your choices but have a look at the kawi versys 650..damn good bike. .more torque than the 650 and perfect for Indian roads

I have seen the versys in showroom and N650R engine reliability (as per ownership experiences of many proud owners) and versys 650 using the same engine with tweaked refinement could be the answer you are looking for. It however is not so sporty in looks like CBR650 and its touring category means what is this machine built for, so looking at the priority decide.

PS: Versys 650 does not seems to be an ideal bike for short riders. In my opinion, but an expert can handle this little problem.

You can most definitely do 150kph on the 600i WITH ABS.

If you haven't booked already, why not wait for the tornado 302 which is to be launched quite soon, would only be slightly more expensive than the tnt 300 and it has the looks of sport bike as well.

And to your original question, I chose and now have a 650f. While i thought a lot about it as well, but went with what I really wanted currently, a sporty, touring-friendly i4 bike, and only honda fit the bill for me. Z800 did run it close though.

I havent booked yet. Still under negotiations. . . I am tempted to wait but It is said to be launched around Diwali. . . Too long

Actually my decision to buy a 300 was solely because Im yet to get used to indian traffic conditions. I have owned a GSXR 600 while in the US and have 4 years under my belt. . . but here in India, I am just scared lol . . so for a few years 300 is good enough for me I feel. I hope you have heard the 300 in flesh, because it sounds MEATY and Mean.

Then you are better off saving 2 lakhs and getting a rc 390 or a pulsar 220 IMHO

Psychologically, if you've ridden 600s and higher before, would you be really satisfied with a 300 now? I can see how the traffic condition would be challenging, but in a few weeks max you would be able to cope with it. After that you'd again want a higher cc bike. So according to me, if traffic is your ONLY concern, you should rethink
Either you could buy the 300, and sell it off after a while, and upgrade, but thats a lot of extra work and loss of money too.
Instead couldn't you borrow someone's bike, or even maybe rent out one for a while? These are cheaper alternatives that get you the practice you need and allow you to buy the bike you really want.
                      Just my opinion

Your logic of buying a 300 does make sense in a way , the traffic is something that may take getting used to. But in that sense, I think as an earlier post said, getting an rc 390 or even a duke 390 would also be wise, considering they would have a lower ownership cost. Additionally, a 390 ktm would give you more power and esp. a lot more torque than the tnt300, which would reduce the performance gap you feel between a GSX600 and the current bike, all the while having an advantage of it being easier to maintain/park/repair etc.

Another point in favor of ktm's would be resale, since you plan to upgrade to bigger bike later on, i think ktm's would fetch slightly more than tnt 300s IMO. I may be wrong about this though.

I think all Benellis sound amazing, including the 300, I still remember the sound from the 600i test ride. I'm not a fan of the ktm's roar, but lot of people seem to like it.

Just love this question everytime I see. I will be honest with you. I spent around 58k in an year for operational cost (SVC + Fuel). The chain sprocket for a 600 will cost you close to 25k and a pair of Pirelli Angel with set you back by another 25k.

So decide if you can maintain such expenses on the long run or it is just going to be a short one before you jump on to something big.

Haha. Opinions and experiences from veteran 600 owners like yourself are very helpful. . . I feel I am just not ready for a 600 yet. But someday definitely.

Want to save more cash? Get a CBR 250R. Only 2 lakh, plus much lower service costs and more spare parts availability. No sound, but you can actually ride the bike rather than sitting at home polishing it, waiting for spares to arrive.

If you want a bike just for sound, what will you do when you get bored of it?
