About the insurance, most owners who use the bike and care for it will pay insurance year after year. I will not recommend touching a Diesel Bullet with no insurance, or insurance lapsed. It's a bit of a headache getting insurance for these vintage bikes, so once it lapses, you will have to cough up double the cash and sweetalk the insurance guy to get your bike done, I'm told. The Fitness Certificate will lapse every 5 years, so you have to spend around ₹1-2k (through agent) to keep the bike legal.

About buying one, financially, it makes sense to me. If well kept, your neighbors would forgive you the sound, once you explain its a vintage vehicle. Fit in alloy wheels and tubeless tyres, and you can do 500 kms trips in ₹400. Not to mention the "thug life" moments when you pull up to a busy petrol pump and fill up Diesel.
    have you bought one?

Hey, I saw one at the RE Showroom in Chennai. They have a separate showroom for used vehicles and one of it is a Diesel Bullet. The showroom is Sri Venkateswara Bike Zone - Royal Enfield - 082200 00536

Thanks, although I've dropped the idea of buying one as of this year. Doesn't make financial sense. Spending 60,000 to save 8,000 in fuel bills per year. It would take more than 10 years to beat the return given by an F.D at 8% compounded yearly.

Plus The Monk has planted the seed of road cycling in my head.

Hello Guys, I have Enfield Diesel since a couple of years and would be doing Leh Circuit on it soon. Feel free to ask about it.
