Where in Assam are you based and are all manufacturers present in your city? Also who has the best service history in your city? A sporty 150cc commuter might do the trick for you!

You should consider fz25 ,its not that high,also you can FE around 35kmpl.
Practically theres no bike in this range of 1-2 lakhs which returns 40+ mileage.
For 40+ mileage see gixxer and hornet .

The mileage range you are expecting comes under 125-150cc commuter segment.
No bike costing between 1-2 lakh will give you that mileage (They'll have bigger and rev happy engines).
Also, kick start will be missing too. Most of the expensive bikes use fuel injection systems, which eliminates the need for a kick starter.

So in your budget, below are your options.

Check out the Bajaj Avenger 220, it will suit your height and the power will keep you happy, mileage will be 35-40 kmpl.

Suzuki Intruder 150 is another good contender fi you want a cruiser. The 150 cc engine is tested and proved unit from Gixxer and the ABS is added benefit. The fresh new looks will ensure a head turning everywhere you go.

If we move a bit higher in price, the FZ25 and Fazer25 are gems. Lots of low end torque to commute in the city and good power in the middle for relaxed highway runs. The Fuel injected engines are a gem and absolute smoothness, robustness and reliability is guaranteed. Mileage will be between 30-40. Lack of ABS is the only problem here.

A bit higher and you can have the Dominar, a complete value for money package with all the bell sand whistles you could ever want in a bike. The 400 CC engine will give you mileage between 28-35 under mixed conditions.

A bit more higher and you can have a CBR250, recently re-launched and a very very capable bike. The ABS one might cost a bit more than 2 lakhs, but is worth the money. Fuel mileage will again be between 30-40.

Oh and before I get lynched by an angry mob of RE lovers; There's always the Bullets and Thunder birds. But get one, only and only if you want an RE and nothing else. I think the Himalayan will also squeeze in the 2 lakh budget. Hope the new version is a bit better than the old one.

Considering the dominar, won't it's seat height be too much at 810 mm or can it's seat height be reduced?

Also which among the RE stable be best suited for a guy 5'5.5" high? Can bullet Es seat height be reduced?

I am not aware of any methods by which we can reduce the seat height brother (either on Dominar or RE). You will have to visit the showroom and check it out in person.

I would advice you to visit the showrooms and take long test rides of the bikes you have shortlisted. It will give you an idea of how the vehicle behaves in real world conditions. Internet won't give you the experience of riding the bike in real world traffic jam. So take test rides, it will tell you how the bike behaves in stop and go traffic, How stable is it on long highway runs, how well it handles with a pillion on the back seat, how is the bite of the brakes, are you comfortable with the weight and height of the bike etc etc.

First of all, its not necessary that you need to be flat footed while sitting on the bike. If you are tip toed, that is also fine but then you can reduce the seat height by cutting the cushion of the seat by 1/2 inch , it will not reduce the comfort of the bike. And regarding dominar , there is channel on youtube named 'Bulu Biker'. He is 5'3" and rides a dominar. You can checkout his channel if you are intrested in dominar.

If you are a daily commuter and an occasional highway rider, then you will not require all the power of Dominor. Also, as already mentioned earlier, bikes in that price range generally does not have kick start(notable exception RE). You can try UM Renegade if service center is not a problem. FZ 25 is also an able all rounder with smoothness and quality.

Thanks for your suggestions. Apparently classic 350 seat height can be ruleduced by removing springs under seat and also removing some cushion.

I have testeidden, the ride is classy but I was surprised by the vibration. I mean it vibrates at low speeds of 60 kms.Also a bit high but guess it's seat height can be reduced.

I am not able to test ride other vehicles as either bikes r not present (Fz25) or showrooms remain closed on Sunday(only day I am free due to no office)

Thanks I already saw Bulu Biker on YouTube. He's an awesome rider. But apart from height dominar is also heavy and fuel efficiency also low.

UM Renegade showrooms not present at my area. Fz 25 not available for test riding. I asked showroom said they'll arrange but only if I purchase it.

Personally I liked Bullet 350 Es but have not testeidden it. Any bikers can comment about Bullet 359 Es?

Well, this will upset a lot of people but RE and vibrations go hand in hand. Also RE is not a benchmark when it comes to reliability and niggle free ownership. I personally know people who have to visit service center every other weekend to get one or the other thing sorted out. It is surprising how they tolerate it. I would suggest you to buy an RE only and only if you absolutely want a RE, there is no other reason for buying one. There are much better options available which are more powerful, reliable, smooth and technologically advanced.

What about the much better options available? I liked Dominar but it's too high n heavy.Fz 25 not available for test ride at my area...Suzuki not present. Any other options you can suggest?

Sorry bro I too am running out of options now. You can try getting a test ride of the FZ25 in nearby cities, if possible.
Or wait for some time to get the 2018 version of the CBR250R (If Honda showroom is available in your city).
The NS200 too will be a bit tall, check it out if not already done.
RTR200 is also another good option in the naked street bikes, I think there is a version with FI and ABS (not sure about this).

I am in the same boat. Looking for daily ride + touring. I like ThunderBird, however had a chance to ride (rented) RE standard during my Ladakh biking tour last year and that made me appreciate my Unicorn all the more. Also, made up my mind that though I love looking at TB and my heart flutters at its classy looks, I'd rather stay away RE bikes.

Japanese are boringly reliable and minimalist on features. Wish they'd add some character to their bikes - current 250 offerings form Honda/Yamaha have disappointed me.
However, FZ 25 might still be the most practical bike given your criteria. BTW, where in Asam do you live? Guwahati has most of the bikes recommended here.

BTW, I only slightly taller than you (5'6") and I don't think you'd find height problem on RE 350 or most other bikes barring few exceptions like RE Himalayas.
