It's not available everywhere. Apparently Apache abs is in production but they aren't selling it coz there's lack of demand for abs version. Customers are unwilling to pay a heavier price for the abs version. Sounds silly but it's true atleast in my area. And they don't want to bring an abs version just for a single customer I.e me.Originally posted by apacherider View PostIts available...

But abs not.Originally posted by tanishq View PostRtr200 is available & only in carb variant.

By the way I am getting a second hand 5 yr old Electra for 70k. Is it worth it? And in case engine gives trouble later on the what would be the cost of engine replacement?Originally posted by tanishq View PostRtr200 is available & only in carb variant.

Re: Biking-Travelling+Commuting
Write a mail to TVS informing them about the dealer. Do mention that you like the Apache a lot and the only thing holding you back is the lack of ABS, and how you are forced to choose another bike due to unavailability of ABS model.Originally posted by Arbor View PostHere here in Assam they guaranteed that abs variant won't be available.

Hehe lol. That's a good suggestion. The dealers guys were quite friendly except for their incapacity to deliver abs version. I'll write a mail then.Originally posted by leech View PostWrite a mail to TVS informing them about the dealer. By the way is the Yamaha fzs V2 capable of maintaining constant speeds of 80-90 kmph on highways?
I am wondering if I should give 150 ccs a shot since higher capacity bikes doesn't seem to offer much in terms of reliability or comfort.

Re: Biking-Travelling+Commuting
Well, according to my friend, who owns a fz, it's top speed is around 110-120. So 80-90 is certainly doable in 5th gear all day long. Some guys will harp on 'sweet spot' and 'stressed sounding engine', but I don't deal in theory. Experienced riders have walked the walk, and share their knowledge here. That's what I follow.Originally posted by Arbor View PostHehe lol. That's a good suggestion. The dealers guys were quite friendly except for their incapacity to deliver abs version. 80 certainly seems doable at ease. 90 may be a stretch for a longer time, while only heating up the engine. But functionally you should not have any problem at 90 also while riding.

Okay so can I take it for long weekend trips of 800 KMS?Originally posted by leech View PostWell, according to my friend, who owns a fz, it's top speed is around 110-120. Re: Biking-Travelling+Commuting
Of course. Just make sure the engine oil level is on the upper mark, don't give full throttle, and change gears before redline always. Change to 6th gear as soon as possible, without engine lugging.Originally posted by Arbor View PostOkay so can I take it for long weekend trips of 800 KMS?

Re: Biking-Travelling+Commuting
Sorry buddy. I meant 5th. Overdrive. And even 6th gear, liquid cooled, low compression engines like CBR 250 will get worn out faster if you redline often. Stay 2000 rpm below redline, and you will be fine, is the rule I follow for my bike.Originally posted by manishh View PostWell, FZ-s as well as FZ25 don't have 6th gear
From what I've heard, the FZ25 is way better fun with 5 gears, it's more tractable. It can pull from 50 to 140 kmph in 5th gear.
Cbr250 needs minimum 60kmph to pull in 6th. For smooth riding, guys shift to 6th only after 75.Last edited by leech; 03-14-2018, 04:33 PM.

Yes, you can. We did Hyderabad - Goa - Hyderabad with pillion on a Gixer, which is 150cc machine. I think Fz V2 could easily do 800 KM's.Originally posted by Arbor View PostOkay so can I take it for long weekend trips of 800 KMS?

You can do that even on a 150 cc bike. In 2011 I have been to Goa which is roughly 600 Kms from my place on a pulsar 150 as well, so don't worry.
And now I go on my KTM and of course, the fatigue that you face in a higher cc bike for such rides is much lesser.

Hmm yeah 800kms on a day wud be overkill I guess. I normally travel by bus whenever I need to cover 800 kms in a day. Otherwise Car is a better option I guess. The only problem witb car is tht mine is an old one and I dont know when it will break down.Originally posted by ktmcrazy9596 View Post800 Kms for a weekend trip? Woah!
