Re: Help needed to choose bike below 2 lakhs
Will get a test for Rs200 too.Originally posted by newwannaberider View PostAS is discontinued. I've ridden and rode on as pillion on an NS 200 and it's not that comfortable for pillion IMO. RS 200 is a good bike with ABS but don't know about the pillion comfort. Also do check if you'd be comfortable with them since you're on the shorter side.
So now I have a final list of 3 bikes to get a test ride. Apache 200, fz25 and rs200.
Will update soon about my experiences
.
Thanks a lot everyone for your valuable suggestions.

Re: Help needed to choose bike below 2 lakhs
My verdict:Originally posted by harry91 View Post1. The most important requirement - Pillion Comfort.
3. Should be at least a 200cc bike
4. I will be mostly using bike for daily commuting and occasional 200-300 kms weekend rides.
5. Budget strictly under 2 lakhs
6. ABS is must.
9. Spare parts cost, servicing costs should be nominal and parts availability should not be an issue.
A couple of bikes that I have my eyes on
1. Apache 200 4v Race edition ( Seat height 790mm, I think I can manage that )
2. Duke 250
************
Don’t look at any street bikes like the Apaches/Dukes because IMO they’ve got an aggressive riding posture and their pillion seats aren’t that user friendly! Plus you will feel cramped after sitting on these bikes for long. Once again, it’s just my opinion and I don’t intend to offend any KTM or TVS fans here.
I’d say you rather look at the Yamaha/Honda. And don’t think that ANY bike is outdated. Trust me, a tried and tested bike is way better than a fancy looking bike. So I’d suggest that you go with a CBR or FZ as these machines are very forgiving, very friendly and their maintenance is easy on the pocket. Also, do consider the bikes made in India, such as Dominar and Mojo, because they are designed for us Indians.
Finally: Don’t go by looks or talks. Ride a bike to feel it. Talk to it rather than talking to others around it.
IMO:
*****
1) Honda are good.
2) Yamaha are great.
3) Indian made bikes are best for Indian roads.
4) Try to buy your bike well within your budget and invest a good amount in: Helmet, Jacket, knee-guards/pants, gloves and boots (for yourself and if possible for your pillion as well).
GL. HF. Wear your gear. Ride safe.everyone has got a monster within them, only some know how to tame it

Re: Help needed to choose bike below 2 lakhs
I own a Pulsar 220 since 2015 and it is a sweet bike with seriously good cruising capabilities. It has projector headlights, tubeless tyres, disc brakes for both front and rear and has a lot of good seating area(seats are wide).
I'm 5'6" so not much of a difference than your architecture. [emoji23]
Maintenance is almost dirt cheap given that timely service has been given to the bike.
But then - Dominar is something even I loved. That is a sweet bike with all the bells and whistles.
Onroad Pune is 1.9L so it is within your budget.
Yamaha FZ25 is a no fuss, all round quality bike. It has decently okayish maintenance cost and is available in 1.35L. What it loses out in are headlight reach and intensity, plain jane design, slipper clutch and ABS(if compared to Dominar).
What it excels in are fuel economy, reliability, smoothness and quality. The torque flow is something you'll love in FZ25 especially in city riding.
PS - I'm from Pune too. [emoji16]Regards,
Akash Yadav
The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

Re: Help needed to choose bike below 2 lakhs
Received my bike yesterday. It looks awesome.
But got an issue after riding it to home for 15 kms.
Started for around 4-5 times after taking delivery, everything seemed to be good. Later on after 5 starts, bike just refused to start due to low battery (sign started displaying on the digital panel).
Called the service center next morning and the guys send a couple of mechanics along with a new battery. They installed it in 15 minutes and now everything seems to be good again. Issue was with the battery. I think many of apache owners have faced the same issue earlier.
Anyway, will be uploading high quality images later on. Will also be sharing my experience in the ownership experience section.
Thanks a lot everyone for helping me choose the bike.
(P.S. Excuse me for the bad pictures. I am not that good at clicking photos
. Hope will learn soon. )
