  • First bike. Need help deciding on two bikes.

Hey guys, i'm from Nepal and i'm planning to buy my first bike within few weeks.

I had suzuki gixxer in mind ever since I started searching all over on xbhp, youtube, etc a year and a half ago. However, since apache 160 4v came out here, I am having a hard time deciding on a bike. Suzuki Gixxer 155 double disk(non abs) costs Rs.2,75,000(+2k for 2017 sp edition) and Apache 160 4v carb double disk costs around Rs.2,86,000 here since the prices are insane due to import taxes.

Gixxer is a tried and tested bike with lots of positive long term reviews. The only con seems to be the hard gear shift and bad pillion seat. Sadly, abs model will not be coming here.

Apache is new, weighs more, tyres are small also brakes are not that snappy but pilion seat is comfy. Also, apache is about 10k dearer and would cost slightly more to service. I want a forgiving and fun to ride bike since i'm a beginner.

    1. Budget:
    2. Age: 22
    3. Height: 5'10"
    4. Weight: 64 kg
    5. Intended usage: commute + recreational rides.
    6. Fuel Efficiency requirement (approx., if any): 40+ kmpl
    7. City & Highway percentage usage: 90% city

I appreciate a lot for taking your time. Thank you.

You can blindly go for the Gixxer. I had recently done around 10-12 K kilometers on this and this was one of most underrated 150 cc motorcycle on sale here. Absolutely comfortable and fun to ride.

My first choice was gixxer too! Btw I know the pillion comfort is not that good, but how bad is it? Is it better than the dukes or is it really unbearable?
      Thanks you your feedback.

I agree, Gixxer is better bike for solo rider but if you want pillion comfort then RTR 160v is a much better option, I know a friend who's wife accompanies him on almost every ride on his apache.

Honda and Yamaha also fare better in pillion comfort

160 4v has best in class pillion comfort. Fz and hornet/ xblade seat is hard compared to apache

Fun to ride bike is the Gixxer

I was recently in the market for another 150cc bike to complement my Gixxer and ruled out the Apache as soon as I sat on it , the riding position is commuterish on the Apache , while the Gixxer is sporty and comfortable at the same time .

Only plus point on the Apache is the smooth gear shifts.
