1. Budget - Under 2 lacs
2. Age - 31
3. Height - 5' 6", with a near 50-50 distribution above and below the hip. That means, not long legs.
4. Weight - 72kg
5. Intended usage - Office commute and occasional long distance (Not touring, just a visit to the village 200kms away, say once in 3 months)
6. Fuel Efficiency requirement - Yes, very important. I would opt for 80kmpl on a 150cc but as that will be available only in the year 2050, I can take whatever is best out there for now. Say 50kmpl?
7. City & Highway percentage usage - 85% highway
8. Approximate Daily / Monthly running - 100km per day, 2500kms per month
9. City / Town /Village of residence - Avadi, Chennai.
10. Brand / Bike type preference (if any) - No Honda and RE. Anything else is fine.
11. Pillion comfort - I can bear with 60% comfort - 40% uncomfort (at the worst). Not less than that.
I do wish some USP on the bike. I don't want something bland like a Unicorn (although that's what best fits my requirement, I don't like it). It could be premium build like the Apache; or VFM like Dominar. Or anything else for that matter. Top speed is not a priority; comfort, mileage, maintenance are; and then some bit of performance (Not the out-of-the-world like the Dukes, just something decent). I will be taking the bike first thing after Mar'19 when the ABS kicks. So goes without saying, ABS will be default criteria. I'm just starting to evaluate from now (I don't think its too soon, 3 months will fly away). I want something new and fresh (Not Pulsar 220 or CBR 250R or RE) - only exception being Avenger (Oh how I wish there was an Avenger 250 or 300 ). Not bulky bikes - that puts the UM, RE and any such Haathis out of the list.
What do I have in mind? Quite few. List below. I've read all the reviews and the last bits of what I have in mind, I'm putting down here. But what I can't really know is the mileage part. What I really want more than the number is, a bike that will not fall off a cliff suddenly beyond 60km speed. If it gives mileage of 50kmpl at 60km, then I would expect say 45-50kmpl at 80km speed. In that sense, consistency and a broader range of efficiency.
Dominar - Only stopper is mileage and weight. I love everything else about this bike.
Avenger - Wish there was a 250 or 300 cc variant.
Apache 200 RTR - Nothing particularly negative; may be mileage?
FZ25 - Argh, the lights. I can probably change it and live with that?
Mojo - No idea what's good or bad here. Service and spare parts are the cons may be?
So, if you guys, especially whoever own these bikes, can advice me on the "consistency of the mileage" part - I would be thankful. And feel free to add anything else you wish, except the "this thing vibrates" part - I don't care about that, every bike will vibrate. They're all pistons and petrol, not wings and feathers. So, anything else apart from that....
