  • Help me get a New bike!

    Hi,
Just Joined and a new member here but please guys help me out in getting myself a new machine........Had short listed TVS Apache RTR FI, HH HUNK, CBZ X-TREME & LOTS FZ-16........But after getting to the respective showrooms of all of them only Yamaha Seems to be in selling Mode and the only one who offered me a test drive without any silly excuses.........
Current Bike: HH CBZ (Old Model)

For HERO HONDA It took almost 20 mins for the sales person to notice that I had come to their Showroom and then they couldn't provide me a test drive saying that its really good and you can test ride it after you are about to make the down payment and are through the purchasing!! Well after this upon knowing EMI Schemes I was told that I won't be able to buy either Hunk or CBZ X-treme though Currently my CBZ is also from Hero Honda owned by me!!!

On Yamaha showroom 1 min for the showroom guy to help me....2 mins to explain all the stuff of Finance schemes......30 secs to get the test drive.....a good test drive offered with all features explained......and to top it all the sales guy gave me his number and never took my number and told me wenever I wanted to get it give a call thats it........and the bonus my old machine was evaluated and the price offered was what the market offered........30 mins approx and FZ-16 was clear to me...

TVS were again least interested in getting me a RTR FI and within 10 mins I had to move out because no bike in stock and none for test drive......

Bajaj is not on my list as only Pulsar 200 appeals to me......rest are not suited to me as I have tried my friend's 150 & 180!!!

But after all this drama from so called reputed companies I have FZ-16 in mind only........So is it worth it????

About me I am a normal office commuter in Weekdays but on weekends I am exploring and enjoying my Bike trips testing its limits checking all its features.........just too passionate Biker!!!
So I need a commuting Bike for Weekdays (with some good average) but A Nice Refined Smooth Power House (Average out of window) for weekends..........and yeah no racing or getting first or start off from red lights just on open roads does my mind becomes open to use that throttle a bit more an more.......

So which is good for me or should I say for which one would suit my dual needs??? FZ-16 is high on my mind as of now........Kindly help this newbie!!!!

      Welcome to xBhp, meet6230.

Except the last few lines of your post, the rest is a overview of what people face everday in different showrooms. It is very sad to see people who are supposed to market and make customers happy not doing their job. And the No Test Ride thing is absolute nonsense. How will people buy it if they don't test drive. Anyways, I would suggest you not to decide on a bike by how people treat you in a showroom.

Though you have explanied your requirements, they are a little vague. Any of the bikes you have mentioned can be used as a commuter on weekdays and tourer on weekends. If you could tell us more about your taste of engines, bike design etc, we would be able to help you more by pointing the pros and cons of each bike.

Personally, I would suggest you to go for a FZ among the ones you have listed out.
Among all the bikes in the segment, I would suggest you take a spin of the new P180.

If u dont care a damn about the mileage u can go for the FZ 16.

If u want more power, have a look at the new P180 or wait for the new 200/RTR 180.
When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

Looking at your post i can say...Dont select a bike coz the showroom guys were nice to you...but yes, its good if they are like that for after-sales service....

RTR fi has good handling and gives good mileage....only thing is that the clip ons and sporty posture may not be to your liking on weekend touring....cant say about the new P180 though.....

so for your requirements FZ seems to be a better choice.....superb city handling and a good tourer comparable to ZMA(except for the top end)...it has one of the most refined engines lately...

so make up your mind or listen to your heart...cheers

+1 for FZ 16/S. Its the exact bike you need. Having fun around the city and some short bursts with friends. And it pulls up well. Very comfortable and styling along with great handling (most important). Just remember one thing, every bike has it pros and cons. Some think about good other crib about bad. So just go for what ever suits you, rather "what you like". I am sure you understand that coz you yourself own a bike. Goodluck!

dude first of all it all depends upon your requrements uf you want a bike which easy to handle on the streets of the city you must go for Honda Unicorn, Suzuki GS150R or you can also consider Fz16 (if you can pay more).

If yu want a bike which know how to perform you must go for Apache RTR160fi, P180 ug4 or if you want pay more then go for p220, yzf r15
and if you can wait (then you must go for RTR180, P200 or for the new Yamaha FZ with fairing)

                    welcome to xbhp

brother congrats in advance for ur new babe. i know u will have one soon.
as far as which bike it depends on many things. i m a wing rider myself. my uni has delievered more than i expected from her. though looking at the current market i would suggest go for ''FZ16'' if mileage is not ur priority. handling in city is brilliant:-long handle bar. can be used on highways for cruising as u said for ur weekend trips. last not the least its YAMAHA.

                      Welcome to xbhp

meet6230, If you like FZ just go ahead and buy it, it a fantastic street bike and it's a Yamaha. I don't know why Unicorn is not on your list, I feel you must include Uni and try it once, it's an excellent commuter with best mileage and very good highway bike.
HH Xtreme and Hunk are also VFM bikes, call HH's toll free number (1800-180-0016 ) and give your mobile number, your neighbourhood HH dealer will take care you of in better way ! BTW, salesmen attitude has got nothing to do with bikes.
I think as a CBZ rider you may not like RTR/Pulsar...

FZ is not comparable to zma please.............

                          @ meet
u sound quite vague,,,,,,,,,, u cannot get both performance and mileage except for the R15 which is not a commuter acc to me

                          go for the honda unicorn.........

and if ur adjusted to cbz ' s handling.......... u ll not like bajaj so forget it

and in my opinion is it a self start cbz which u own?
if yes then why spend more on a new bike,,,,,, it itself is a awesome gr8 bike for sure...... its a complete package of what u want
just for some more refinement fancy spending thousands.........
if i were you,,,,, i wud have gone to a good guy for replacing some old parts and tuned my engine for more smoothness and power and waited for something special to arrive u see

what i finally mean to say is why sell a 150cc bike and buy a 150 cc bike when the old one is really good enuf buddy

if u want to upgrade to a new one,,,,,,,,,, as i said,,, go for unicorn of FZ
n if u want performance upgrade ...... go for the biggy ones then ur selling cbz sound good to me
                          but mileage .................

                          best of luck
Hope is a good thing ,

First of all as somebody has already said..
Upgrading from a 150cc to another normal 150cc is hardly an upgrade.....!
So u can look out for bigger bikes...

Anyways, if you are keen on buying a 150cc only and going by your requirements....FZ would be the best buy..and by far....

Coz, First it has loads and loads of torque which would make it the best city bike commuting to your office on weekdays...
Second, it has lovely engine response and well-sorted power curve along with a very good seating posture would make it a very good loong drive bike...for weekends...
About the other requirements......its a YAMAHA....

                              My two pennies for FZ.....
