  • City Bike: Mileage matters!!!

I want an alternate to my 15 years old workhorse Discover 125, but I am unable to decide which one to choose.

    1. Bajaj CT100 (Base-variant)
    2. Honda CD110
    3. Hero HF deluxe (Base-variant)

My requirement is a low-budget ride with minimal maintenance (I spend not more than Rs. 20,000 (including Tubes, Tyres and batteries) for Discover 125 on my 15 yrs ownership).

    My preference:

    1. Best mileage
    2. Low cost spares & Maintenance
    3. Good pillion support (say Splendor type seat)
    4. City use only, no need for speed (within 60 KMPH with pillion)

      Re: City Bike: Mileage matters!!!

You know there is a huge price difference between the three. Ex showroom price
      CT 34k
      HF 39k
      CD 52k

Honda is in different league here. 110cc, self and alloy is standard, tubeless tyre which brings the price much higher than the other two.

I don't think there would be much difference between Bajaj and Hero here. I don't know if they give test ride for these bikes, if they do try and decide. If not, you have good experience with Bajaj for over a decade. So go by that and buy CT100B.

Bajaj CT100B is the most Affordable Bike out there.
Super cheap and super easy spares.
        Fuel efficient too.
        Bajaj reach is really good.

Would you not like to stick with Bajaj Discover? It has wider seats.

If cost is a factor, just get CT100B or CT100 top model if you want tubeless, alloys and self.

            Thanks for your replies......

BTW, i dont want to spend 15k for my Discover 125 for complete engine works and dont want discover again even though its a better companion.

CT100B is not available in any of the bajaj dealer in chennai, only CT100 available.

i want this ride only for city use, so i thought no need for tubeless tyres, self and others, correct me if i am wrong...

Onroad for CT100: 47k for base model and 53 for top....

By Discover I meant buying a new Discover. But yeah, for simple city trips, it doesn't makes sense to splurge on it. Going by your post, you'll be fine with CT100 basic version. Easy and cheap to maintain, good FE.

That's weird. Going by Jai Bajaj's listing I thought it's available.

If you're going into CD110 territory I would pick Star City + for about the same price.

Hero has the HF Deluxe in the same category as the CT100, have a look at it also.

In the TVS stable you also have the option of TVS Sport if the TVS Star City+ is a stretch on the budget.

But it is 15+K than CT100... and mileage & spares taken into account i bet with CT100 ...

And so many negative reviews for Hero starter pack (Priced 53k onroad) ... so i also leave that in half-mind...

53K for the HF Deluxe! Are you sure, I checked on zig wheels it say the base varient with drum brakes and spoke wheels is 46k on road (Dehradun).

Ohh okay, that explains the chunky prize difference. I guess the decision is already made then.

No.... no.... I heard that CT100 served well for many users... so i choose that... but the shiney cd deluxe looks beefy and executive look than CT...

And i think mileage will be same for CT and HF deluxe (60KMPL)...
