Re: Long Ride with Mileage
How long are you planning to ride?Originally posted by tvin View PostHi guys, Suggest me a bike for long rides with Mileage 50 or above. Thanks...
Only commuter bikes of around 110-125cc will give consistent mileage of 50 or above, however these are not viable for long distance touring.Yamaha Ray ZR Street Rally -> 2020

Re: Long Ride with Mileage
Well, you only have to look at commuter bikes for 50+ mileage which are not ideal tourers.Originally posted by tvin View PostHi guys, Suggest me a bike for long rides with Mileage 50 or above. Thanks...
You can consider Hero XPulse 200T or Avenger 180/220. These bikes have just enough power for highway and you can extract a mileage of around 40 with sane riding.
I think 200 cc is the sweet spot for balance of power and mileage for touring.
Cheers!

Re: Long Ride with Mileage
Dominor is the choiceOriginally posted by tvin View PostThanks for all the reply guys. Sorry for the late reply, been busy with work.
If mileage is not an issue and the budget is below 2 lakh, which bike would be good for long rides/road trips. Including off-road*

Re: Long Ride with Mileage
Here a list of budget friendly bikes that you can actually tour on and get 50+ on mileage. Ideal touring bikes aren't very fuel efficient I must warn you.
1. Honda Hornet 160R (52kmpl; tested personally)
2. CB Unicorn 150 ((54kmpl; best I've got on it)
3. Yamaha FZ/FZ-S V3 (they reach 50kmpl mark with the FI)
4. Hero Xtreme Sports
5. Pulsar Twin Disc (sane riding and you can easily extract 50kmpl+)
6. Pulsar 125 (if you can compromise with 2hp less from the 150 and rejoice for the 62kmpl if gives on highways)
These are my picks if the 50kmpl figure. Below at some other choices that give 40+.
1. Yamaha FZ/Fazer 25
2. Yamaha MT-15 (excellent highway handler)
3. xPulse 200T/Xtreme 200S
4. NS200
5. Gixxer SF 250Last edited by Bismaya; 11-10-2019, 11:13 PM.[My Motorcycles]

What you are asking in that budget is something that is not feasible.Originally posted by tvin View PostThanks for all the reply guys. Sorry for the late reply, been busy with work.

You would get a bike for touring around the 2lac mark but that wouldnt be apt for off-road.
Either increase your budget to include true blood off road tourers like Tiger, Africa Twin etc or cut on expectations.
Dominor would be my best bet around the 2 lac mark.
Don't look at RE unless you are ok with getting stranded in the middle of nowhere as the bike broke down.Yamaha Ray ZR Street Rally -> 2020

Himalayan, Mojo. Both around 2L, does both long ride/ off road jobs wonderfully.Originally posted by tvin View PostThanks for all the reply guys. Sorry for the late reply, been busy with work.

Dominar will be on heavier side at slow speeds, depends if you can handle the wieght, if you are tall enough minimum 5.8+ and weigh 70-80kg+, then Domniar can also be considered. If you are vertically challenged then skip the Dominar.Bajaj SuperFE 150 - Forever in my heart

Re: Long Ride with Mileage
I am going through similar quandries and i ended up taking test drives of both Mojo and Himalayan. I am 5'9 but still i found Himalayan too big for me and Mojo was quite heavy. Himalayan was much more comfortable to sit on than Mojo, but afraid of the bad reputation which comes with RE.Originally posted by kiran2508 View PostHimalayan, Mojo. Is it worth to go for a second hand Mojo/Himalayan or even a Dominar?I like to meditate a lot.. On my BIKE!

Re: Long Ride with Mileage
I would still bet on the Dominar. RE's reliability is questionable and you seem to understand that as well.Originally posted by alkemyst View PostI am going through similar quandries and i ended up taking test drives of both Mojo and Himalayan. You can also check CBR 250R ABS models and see if you can lay your hands on one. The engine is time tested and has proven itself on all fronts.
Do note that no matter what you buy, there will be certain compromise that needs to be made no matter how costly a bike you buy.
So dont think much. Choose between Dominar or CBR 250R. Take long test rides of them and get the one that your heart calls out to.Yamaha Ray ZR Street Rally -> 2020

Re: Long Ride with Mileage
No, 2nd hand Himlayan will be mostly pre BS4. non-ABS bikes which are filled with problems, chassis issues, poor build etc etc. If you get a good post BS4 ABS model then you can go ahead.Originally posted by alkemyst View PostI am going through similar quandries and i ended up taking test drives of both Mojo and Himalayan. Same for Mojo, 2nd hand market will have only non-ABS model, would suggest you to get a ABS model, which will be impossible to find in used market as it was lunched only
He is already feeling Mojo as a heavy bike insipite of being 5'9, if Mojo is heavy then Dominar will be even heavier for him, to plant both feet on ground on the Dominar will be next to impossible even if he is 5'9 because of very wide inseam and will be just not confident inspiring enough at low speeds and maneuverability.Originally posted by hellgate View PostI would still bet on the Dominar. I'd rather buy a less powerful bike but where I can sure foot my feet than buy some more powerful where I'll tip-toeing!Bajaj SuperFE 150 - Forever in my heart
