Thanks for bringing up all the good points here.
In my 7 years of experience with Bajaj Avenger I have realized that -
1. There were instances when I could not get even a clutch wire replacement for my bike. A lot of road side mechanics did not have the right tools to even remove the rear wheel.
2. Living in bangalore, within reach of multiple service centers, they were still unable to resolve a lot of issues I had with my bike. Not just the service centers, but couple of local mechanics who claim to service avengers, left those issues unresolved and I finally learnt to live with them as I did not have time and patience to deal with everything.
I am not saying that after sales service is not something to consider at all, but there are times when we count on it and it fails us royally. If that becomes the base reason for sale, then we will never get good quality products from emerging/foreign manufacturers. If a product is crappy, then we have all the rights to blast it, but as customers we are also avoiding a lot of interesting quality products which just get lost in dust as we want everything from it and the manufacturer.
I am still struggling with the thoughts of shelling out 2.5L for a Dominar (which isnt perfect either) or 2.4L+ for a Himalayan. At some level I know that if i opt for Jawa, I would be signing up for almost a prototype product but I have a feeling that this company is here to stay (esp looking at the customer response) but with Mojo I am afraid that Mahindra might pull the plug on it, even if i feel that its a very good product.
