if you are considering sp125 than pls note that it's gear lever side crankcase cover is probably made of fibre and i think it also has holes kinda in it for heat dissipation maybe, (not ideal for flooded areas?) i have read almost evry reviews and nobody talked about that.. so please look it in person.

How do you know that? In the previous model, the Stunner/Shine/CBF 125 engine - the magneto cover is made of aluminium and the magneto is oil cooled.
In the current SP125 (Shine) and Livo, the BS6 engine without starter motor has the magneto cover made up of heat resistant fibre plastic. The magneto has a small plastic 'fan'/fins attached to it. It sucks air from outside, cools the magneto and drives the hot air out. I have no idea why they did it. Probably cool air from outside is better in cooling than little bit of hot oil splashed from the cam chain. the main thing is that the fan will use to keep cool the internal by sucking outside air in, and this is my major concern because i live at area which isn't that good in monsoon.
i was also planning to buy sp 125 too, but now that (magneto cover) is holding me out.

Ideally, one should not ride their motorcycle (any brand) if water level reaches upto/over magneto cover level because that means the chain, brakes and probably even the wheel bearings will get affected/damaged.Originally posted by Ash996 View PostExactly! thanks for putting this,

Hey Buddy,
if you haven't decided on bike take a look at Suzuki Gixxer too.
I own one since last 3 years.
Decent average 50-55 in Goan traffic, also a good bike for daily commute.
I have covered 37k till now without major issues.
Major expenses where at 30-32k km
1) Both Tyre
2) Chain Set
3) Both brake pads.

Almost all the bikes today are Fuel Injected. One risk I see is since it is battery operated if the battery is down then the bike will not get start. Unlike the carburetor it is not possible to kick start the bike in case of emergency. Apache I do not see the kicker in BS6 versions and Pulsar has kicker but not sure how much it will help in emergency. Will the kicker in Pulsar still allows to start the bike even it is a FI engine and still the battery is down? or the kicker is just a dummy?
Another question is about the maintenance, I see from youtube videos the FI replacement is more costlier than Carburetor (FI may be more than 4 times costlier than carburetor). After BS6, I do not see any Carburetor bikes available in the market. I am worried now if I can go for FI bikes. Is Carburetor bikes still around?

I am in between Xtreme 160R and Apache 160 V4, seeing lot of +ve feedbacks on the Xtreme that is well suited for city rides, led indicators and has a good power to weight ratio. Only -ve is the pillion seat, which is raised a little and not that comfortable for pillion. I am planning to visit the showrooms tomorrow.Originally posted by Satyamzma View Post

On road: Gixxer - 1.36 Lacs; Xtreme - 1.22 Lacs. Looks like on road of Gixxer 155 should be at least 10k more than Xtreme. In terms of comparison, I do not find anything interesting in Gixxer at that price range as compared to Xtreme. Coming to maintenance, I thought Hero is cheaper than Suzuki as Hero being an Indian brand and spare parts should not be that expensive provided we take care of servicing bike in timely manner. What I am not able to find out is the real user experience of Xtreme 160r. Even I'm looking in the same segment. I've test ridden all the bikes. Xtreme was superb compared to Apache except the pillion seat. If you're going to ride solo, you should go for Xtreme. But pillion seat is worse than Gixxer, better than R15. Grab handle is the worst part, instead of any proper bar to hold, they have made a small carving in the panel below pillion seat. The extra grab rail can be attached to Xtreme as an accessory if that will solve the problem for pillion to hold. I have checked in youtube, people have added the grab rail. It may change the rear look a bit though. If Pillion seat can be managed with this adjustment, rest seems to be perfect. In terms of power, pick up and features (like led indicators, hazard lights etc.) Xtreme seems to be better than FZ. They are almost at the same price range. 1. Xtreme - Firstly, the seating position of this bike I felt a little uneasy in the hip (glute) area. I usually feel this when I sit as pillion in the scooters. It could be I kept my legs a little wide to balance the bike. The bike's weight is light and easy to move in 1st gear. But as I started shifting gears up I felt gear shifting was little hard and worst thing is I was not able to bring it back to neutral. The engine was peppy (used to feel that in Pulsar) I could feel as I was riding. I had my father as pillion, he said the rear seat comfort is manageable but not that comfortable.
2. FZS V3 - Seating position was great and my legs was could hug the petrol tank very nicely. Gear shifting was gentle and smooth. Good suspension. Refined engine but not peppy (like how it was in Xtreme). Bike handling was good. Overall, I was able to enjoy riding the bike and ride was smooth too.
Based on test ride experience, I am tilted towards FZS V3 now. On road 1.26 lacs and they offer 3.5k discount for new year.
