I didnt go through complete thread but this confusion between complete different segment bikes is no way fair. You get what you pay for and Dominar 400 is terrific value for money for what it offers.
There are numerous feathers in cap of Dominar vis Trans-Siberian Odyssey

Polar Odyssey

and various similar feats to its credit so there is nothing to worry about either Dominar /Versys 650. The rider makes big difference than ride.

With Versys 650, hope you are ok with spare prices/ service. In case of crash the parts are too costly and might run close to lac or more too sometimes. So if money is no bar then Versys is definitely better machine to go for, if its the value for money tourer you are looking for then Dominar makes a strong case for itself. For most of indians if its a superbike it has to sound boomy so atleast an inline 3 or an inline 4 makes for a long keeper. Why not save up money and go for Versys 1000 and keep it longg term? Just a suggestion.

Well you are very right in what you said but then its always mind vs heart. Mind askes you to take rational decisions while the heart wants something over the top .

I am not into loud sounding bike. I have been riding my Classis 350 with stock silencer for 7 years now.

Last week I had a chance to sit on the Versys 1000, it looks proper big bike and power figures are great too. I am sure it is comfortable but I think Verys 650 is more comfortable with it upright positioning.

Let see how things unfold themselves in the future and I will get what best is possible for me.

Nice thread. I don't own a Versys but I do use a Z650 which has the same engine in a different tune. Its an amazing engine and the power delivery is addictive. I don't push the bike very hard most of the time and honestly the huge amount of torque available in almost any gear is an amazing feeling. Some other big bikes have very peaky power delivery that forces you to really wring the throttle to get adequate power which is not great on our Indian roads. So the Versys 650 is well suited for Indian roads. That said I don't know if you should go for it considering the service aspect. Its not very expensive but paying extra for getting the service team to your town is not the best option. Otherwise you generally pay 12k per year on regular service. After 12k kms your tyres need to be replaced and that will set you back by around 12k for timsuns to 30k for better tyres. Also your brake pads should also be replaced. That will be around 9k for the twin brake pads up front and the one in the rear. Around 20k kms you may have to change your chain and sprocket which if you go 3rd party will set you back around 15k. These are the major service costs for the bike. If you crash then the fairings alone are almost 1 lakh but your insurance will compensate you to a good degree. Which brings me last to the insurance which will cost you around 10k per year as well. If these costs don't seem excessive to you then I think go with your heart and just get the Versys. I rode the Dominar. Its a fine bike but the Versys is so much better is many aspects from build quality, to performance to even handling. But you will have to pay a lot lot more and in your case even service is an issue.

Got a call from Aurum Kawasaki, Delhi.. They are offering 30k discount on versys 650.. Guess new model of versys coming soon..

Unfortunately no. That is the BS6 version of the Versys which was launched a few months back only. No sales which is why the discount scheme is running.

But that bs6 version has not been updated with the LCD display and LED lamps as other models.. and if what you say is the reason, kawasaki guys will soon withdraw there offer after hearing suzuki vstrom prices..[emoji23]

P.S. Read that kawasaki was about to launch 6 new models on 23rd November but didn't heard any thing other than updated 10R and 10RR...

I can safely say the Bajaj Dominar 400 is definitely a better buy . .
