  • Which one? a cruiser or a racer??

Hello freinds, i'm new to this forum but read a lot and liked it.
I already own a TVS Victor GL (7yrs old) and am planning to buy a new bike.
My budget is about 1 lakh and i am confused between Thunderbird twinspark and Yamaha R15.
Although thunderbird was my initial choice, i am not too impressed by the maintenance cost (as other friends tell me... it's supposed to be a tad higher).
As for the Yamaha, will it be comfortable and last long? do help me out.....thanks

Even the R15 is no cheap maintenence bike .service and parts do cost a lot .

both are quite different bikes and cater to diff. demand segment .tell us your specific requirements .
why do you want the bike ? touring ? city riding ?commuting ?Stunting ?Dragging ?

i will mainly be using the bike for city riding but will go for weekend rides too.....i was really impressed by the torque generated by TBTS when i test drove it (unfortunately i cud not drive the R15 as the dealer in baroda didn't have any).

Also i'm about 6 foot tall.... so will R15 be as comfy on longer rides??

Considering that you are 6 feet, the R15 would look like a baby as its too low! TBTS, on road should cost you more than what you have quoted, please do check again!

@Tc - For city riding and weekend rides the TBTS will suit you . The r15 has all the power and torque at much higher Rpm range and the riding position and pillion seat is also not very comfortable for longer rides .

have you also looked at other bikes like new P220 ?

I checked the on-road price for TBTS in Baroda... it was 1.06 lakhs and that for R15 was 1.08. And yeah i do feel R15 will look a li'l small on me

@Puneet. thanks dude... i didn't consider P220..... well, will test ride the P220 but i'm not too keen on it. I think if not R15, then i'd rather consider TBTS (i like more of torque)

If you are having a look at P220, also try considering RTR180 & ZMA!

Considering your requirements, I suggest that you go for the TBTS. The bike is comfortable for both the rider as well as the pillion.

This is a funny one...either you are the cruiser type, or the sporty type, how can you like both at once?
Anyways, they are 2 such different bikes that I cannot really compare them. Still, I'll take a shot at it. In layman terms:
One has its power RPM range starting where the other's dies down.
One is light&fast, the other is heavy&slow.
One has the latest technology, the other has 40 year old technology.
One will pull you to the SVC every other day (or teach you to do it yourself), the other will take you for longer rides&teach you better riding skills.
Still, both cost about the same&have more engine life than any of the other bikes out there!
If you need a more detailed comparo, PM me.

Try the P220 if you like it you will be further confused, otherwise go for the Thunderbird Twin Spark.

PERSEVERE... failure is not an option!
