    Welcome to xBhp!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Honda DIO is a nice. You could expect a milage anything within 40 kmpl on these scoots....
The best thing i like about the DIO is that the body parts are all fiber and you get the body kit for like 3K and can have combinations of the body pannels.....You could use this for ur daily commute to collage and back....

Wasn't thew Dio replaced by the Aviator? Correct me if wrong.

The new Activa too is very good but Aviator has better suspension and also comes with an alloy wheels+ disc brake combo variant. Check it out.

          50 KM/day in DIO.
if roads are good, not a problem. if its bad, get ready to get backache.
I travel 60km/day on DIO and facing severe backache . suspension are too stiff for city ride ( I feel it almost non-existence).
pathole hits are directly transfered to your back and hands.
Pickup is good for every 1st 1000km after each service. then, goes down drastically till next service.
          Needs carb cleaning every 2000km.
          mileage - within 35-40 under sane riding. ( < 60kmph speed)
My this week mileage is less than 30 kmpl (insane riding )
Only good thing found in DIO is handling.
          tyres skid a lot.

I would suggest you to go for any bike. You can get a good bike with better mileage and performance at the same price.

If you still need to go for motoscooter, try suzuki access. Better power with telescopic front suspension.

I have a Dio. I would not recommend a scooter for 50 km riding. It is good for zipping in cities only. Just as manohar_manu suggested, you will surely have backaches. Get a 125cc bike for that. I would suggest you a CBF Stunner.

dio is not that much suitable for long distance rides.
mileage you can expect around 45.
              very good for city riding.
pillion rider seat not that comfortable, little bumpy ride.

              for 50km driving means
get ready for back ache(if bad roads)

Dio is best for intra-city short hauls, most importantly the roads should be top class. 50kmpd on Dio would strain your back, the small wheels become very sensitive to road surface hence hurt your back badly.

I would recommend Unicorn or a Stunner (as you are college going, you'll love Stunner's styling).

Yes Long rides on Scoots are like sitting on a bike with Piles complaint....

I would recommend u the new Discover100....it will come in to your Budget quite easily....and also u can save money on Fuel costs.......

Good EYE Candy....u can save money tooo.....it has Nitrox suspensions so Goodbye for Backaches......

Agree with all, 50 km per day, continued for long, would cause backaches on a Dio. Pillion seating position is worse, and would result in backaches much much sooner than the rider.

I never got my Dio to run beyond 45 km per liter. Full throttle riding gave as low as 30 kmpl.

The only things positive for this bike are looks and nice handling on smooth roads.

Its good only for small trips inside the city and "rare" less than 100 km rides.

Use it for daily long commutes only if you gain pleasure in pain.

I own Dio since 3 years... looks and styling wise its awesome scoot.... but foot rest for pillion is horrible... I've travelled even out of city for 240 km in a day and it proved very sturdy. delivers 35-45 kmpl in mixed riding conditions. and smoothness doesn't remain same and vibes increase after say 1.5 yrs even if u follow regular servicing... -my experience.

overall very good scooter for a college student in city riding and best for zooming with (girl)friends...

Dude! Why a scooterette?? u could buy a good enough bike with the same amount of money u'll spend on a dio or maybe just add a li'l more money and get a better bike. i own a dio and believe me, it is not even as comfy as my 7 yr old TVS Victor (in terms of 50 Km runs). Also, IMO a bike is a bike..... not even a motoscooter can come closer to the charm a bike has.
P.S. Smaller tyres = low usability on water inundated roads and lesser control.

In the end test drive all your options and decide according to ur heart.

                            Aviator shocks

I am gonna get hands on ma Dio in August. I would like to know whether I can put in Aviator shocks without any major mods. Read in Orkut about this, but the guy didn't give proper answer. What will the the cost incurred.

BTW, I have been riding '94 Kinetic Honda and '07 GLadiator and gotta drive '07 Pleasure for a week and I fell in love with it and decided to go for Dio [since they share the same underpinnings and Dio looked better]. IMO scooter is better than bike in city/urban and serves the utilitarian purpose. I love gearshifts but hates it in bumper to bumper situation. For highways, I use car.

I hate driving without helmet, at the same time hate carrying it around. Dio got under seat comp for helmet [+1]
