One of the most undertuned and sluggish scooters in modern India...

One of the worst placed rear footpegs

One of the most fuel inefficient scooters

One of the worst plastic quality

One of the best looking scoters

One of the best handling scooters

As most people have said, go for a bike if you want to travel this much...

And if you are bent on going for a scooter, go for Suzuki Access..much better than all the Honda scoots in India

And this comes from the mouth of a DIO owner...!
        2002 - Pulsar 150 Classic (Still owned)
        2005 - Pulsar 150 Dtsi (Still owned)
        2006 - Eterno (sold)
        2008 - Dio (Owned)
        2009 - Pulsar 220 DTSi

Dio any day if you like and ride appropriately

50kms day will not be a problem at all for Dio. No need to worry about your back as long as you ride appropriately. My wife did a 1400km ride on Honda Dio in 4 days and 200 kms of bad roads, keeping her company was Apache, RX 100 and and RXZ. We were surprised by the speed and the pull while climbing up the Masinangudi - Ooty Ghat Road which is very demanding even for a four wheeler. Mileage as others said yes it can put a whole on your wallet. But excellent Scoot.

Since your daily commute is 50km, go for the access.

I travel 60km/day on DIO and facing severe backache . suspension are too stiff for city ride ( I feel it almost non-existence).
pathole hits are directly transfered to your back and hands.
Pickup is good for every 1st 1000km after each service. then, goes down drastically till next service.
              Needs carb cleaning every 2000km.
              mileage - within 35-40 under sane riding. ( < 60kmph speed)
My this week mileage is less than 30 kmpl (insane riding )
Only good thing found in DIO is handling.
              tyres skid a lot.

I would suggest you to go for any bike. You can get a good bike with better mileage and performance at the same price.

If you still need to go for motoscooter, try suzuki access. Better power with telescopic front suspension.
You are very lucky person man. Ill tell you, My Dio never managed more than 25kmpl and is pathetic in the typical heavy stop and go traffic(many times i prefer duck pedalling the bike than to run the engine in heavy traffic) in Bangalore. And yeah the bike looses its smoothness about 500-1000 kms of service.

But in other terms I like dio for its handling, really good for sub 80kmph, good acceleration(atleast as soon as you service) and quite engine. If you dont perfer bike like handling then go in for the Access, is a far better scooter. I wish Suzuki comes with a Moto-scooter similar to the Dio(Suzuki has good sub 400cc scooters world wide)
