Pulsar 220: Better insane speed on a straight line... but i found it heavy on the corners.

Pricing Wise: cheaper in a way.. if you compare the power you are getting.

Refinement wise: I have always been bit apprehensive about bajaj bikes when it comes to quality.. but 220 is a good build.

Fazer: Limited speed beyond 110 kmph... but will always put a smile on your face when you hit a corner.. so much that you would be tempted to scrape your footpegs without sweating a bit... exceptionally grippy and inspires confidence... best rider seating position so will do good for your back.

Pricing Wise: Bit on the Higher side

Refinement Wise: i would give it more brownie points than 220. Engine is exceptionally smooth and many people have successfully completed 1655 kms IBA saddlesore in 24 hrs on fazers/Fzs without the engine overheating or the bike giving any problems whatsoever.. you can find a lot of them from XBHP.

yamahas are quite cheap to maintain.. i have never paid more than 350 bucks on any of the servicing so far.. and have 10, 800 kms on the odo!!

      Cheers

Hey bro i own a p220 for more than 1.5 years yet no problem for the bike.Bajaj have done a commentable job with p220.U dont go any way wrong with P220.People here in xbhp have completed more than 35k kms without any major hassles though with insane ridings.

But if you are not a speed freak and love relaxed riding then u can go for Fazer. It is more refined than the pulsars.

But ultimately i will stongly suggest you take a test ride before choosing the bike, that will give you a clear idea between these two bikes.

You are talking about Karizma R without naming it. It perfectly suits your requirement. Enough power, enough refinemen,t optimally priced.

my vote is for Karizma as well & then comes P220, it has power n it doesn't have that bad quality as most people say..I've seen lots of P220 doing over 20k without any major problem..Fazer is good but it seriously lack power..

              @ Toxicbiker

Close your eyes and book the White Fazer. Let the P220 or ZMA reach the destination 5-10 mins faster.

But you will never want to get off your Fazer even after reaching the destination.

Fazer is exactly built for your perception, simply go for it. Regular maintenance will be same like any 150CC bike and spares cost are cheap too.

Yamaha Fz-16 or Pulsar 220 dtsi sf

                  Hi Everyone!
New to the forum! Never owned a motorcylce before.
Ever since Fz-16 was out, I always knew if I'd buy a bike its gonna be this (because of its looks) However now that the time has come to actually buy one, my friends and pro's who review for bike mags suggested me to consider p220 sf as well. And I want to make the right choice.

[Maybe the 2 bikes fall in totally different category, and the only reason I am comparing these 2 is because of the price tag.]

                  My requirement:
                  1) Mainly City Commuting (borivali-andheri route to be precise).
                  2) Good Mileage.
                  3) Shelf Life - A bike/engine that will last me for atleast 4-5 years with comparatively lesser maintenance issues.

Currently it is inconsequential if the bike has more power or is more faster. If that plays a significant role in choosing a bike, I would request all you guys to educate me on that!

                  Cheers!

suggest a bike please,i am in confusion.

I am going to buy a new bike,my
                      budget is around 90000rs,i prefer
                      looks and mileage
only, performance doesnt matter, mileage should be 40 or more than 40, i dont drive rough,i drive between 45 to 55 only, needs less maintain, and i often go on long tours on bikes. Please suggest,i have shortlisted some below.
                      1.karizma r
                      2.apache rtr 180 ABS
                      3.FAZER

Note: With due respect to you, we know that you adore your Zma. But please do refrain from speculation that might influence the other person's decision. And if you are speculating, you can put forth as such stating clearly that this is pure speculation since nothing has been declared or launched as yet concerning the new ZmR. Thanks for your comprehension.[/QUOTE]

Agreed!! Let's clear the doubt here. There is no practical proof that an FI has done wonders better than a proper adjusted carburetor in vehicles like Karizma. Infact pulsar withdrew their 200/220FI since thay would save atleast 10k which is a huge amount when buying a bike.
FI is good no doubt but it gets clogged due to residues in fuel that is spurious and require more maintenance and FI in smaller engines with 2valve engine in no way gives you more power like he says here that it gave 19bhp! its just marginal and in most cases of FI bikes that have run 20k km give lesser power than a carb bike.

                          2.apache rtr 180 ABS 39km/l
                          3.FAZER 35km/l
FACT!! None of the above bike give you 40-50 mileage! Nor are they meant to be for ride at 30-50kmph. These have hefty maintainace , specially the karizma is a ticking bomb when it comes to looting your pocket. Come on you are wanting a power bike for commuting??

For your riding condition and long journeys you can take a look at these bikes that give good ride comfort and mileage as well as cheap spares and good looks:
                          1. Suzuki GS150R (non availability of spares is a bit of issue with them)
                          2. HH CBZ/Hunk (heard it has chain issues)
                          3. Yamaha SZR (bad tyres, just get them replaced)
There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

You want good mileage and choose two worst mileage bikes. Did you know both these give around 30kmpl ??

The Pulsar is no way a long cherishable item. You will end up spending a lot of your time on maintenance. Most of my friends say pulsars parts life come to end early, its true their parts are cheap but not just in price but durability too. I dont care if the pulsar races or is good, but end of the year the guy with pulsar would have visited the service center atleast double the times than my yamaha did.

The Yamaha must be your preferred choice, the bike will last you long, their FZ engine is really durable and spares are priced similar to bajaj.
