forget about what you have to look for in it for a while ... Just think about how you feel on the bike , whether you're comfortable riding it ... if you are comfortable then everything else will fall into place automatically ...
People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

          ^^ +1
U don't have to LOOK for anything in the bike. Ride the bike, if u feel comfortable riding it, turning and stopping it and if u think it will be easy for you to park the bike in cramped spaces, drive in conjusted traffic; go for that bike. Just compare how u feel while driving a bike. Buy the bike with a better feeling irrespective of our suggestions (buy a dio if you feel more comfortable on it rather than a bike.)
Remember that in the end it is u and your bike.... we can only advise you.

          Cheers

Today you ride 10kms, tomorrow you will ride 100, the next day you would be going for long tours. If there is a biker inside you it will automatically come out, you dont have to do anything, but not without proper gear.

Get the FZ, or apache which looks good considering your height. Dont even think of the Dio. Weight issues, Gear issues are non-starter, you just have to get a bit accustumed for a month and voila!

When i first got a 150ccer which isnt very long back i thought 150 is going to be good enough for all my needs, within no month time i wish I had gone for the 220. Get the best that your budget brings, ofcourse taking into consideration mileage needs, as for me it was not much a problem as long as its over 30~35.

Don't consider Others It's all depends you! So testdrive the bikes that you wish to buy then choose the perfect one for you[]

My weight just 43 kgs and my height is 5'7". I took test drive of both rtr and Fzs on 21/8/2009. My personal opinion is fzs rocks in all the aspects. It has Great Handling, power delivery, cornering , braking & Looks. It pulls the bike without any stress even in 5th gear @ 30 kmph. I loved it after riding it.

while driving RTR, I felt lot of vibes in lower rpm itself, I had a feel of some considerable amount of weight is tranferred to my wrist and if you drive this baby for a long ride you may get backpain.

B4 going for Test Drive I've planned to book RTR since I consider mileage But After riding it I didn't...I booked FZ and i'll get my bike on 23/8/09. I'm really Proud to be a owner of FZ.

Don't think that you are skinny, even i'm too skinny but this is time to enjoy our college life loaded with fun. So My personal opinion on this is FZ.

It's no matter how you look but it matters how you ride!

Go for fz anytime, dont bother about your skinny look or anything - if you feel comfortable in fz then go for it.
Dio has no compare to FZ. Fz is far better option.

Am a 100% newbie with geared bikes... Had a activa and a nova 115 during school and college...
                    This month bought a GS150 R

...my 1st geared experience was test driving a FZ 16 ( yipee i could somehow drive it), then the GS, rtr 160, Hunk and finally extreme...
Fell in love with stability & comfort of the GS and am 100% satisfied...

Geared bikes are gr8(esp. GS) for cruising, mileage and finally absolute comfort.. Within a week i was shifting gears with absolute ease and its gr8

BUT u are still in college, have hardly 10 kms of definite running...4m my experience (ppl forgive me) scoots are the way to go: Why:

1: I could dump the entire bag with all recs, projects etc etc in the dicky of nova with absoute ease...my helmet also went in there, so did my football

2: Scoots simply accelerate (access is fast) with no worry, no vibs, no turning fuel knobs to ON, no changing gears, light wt, easily to navigate in any traffic, reliability + ur parents can also drive it if needed

The Dio is never girlish...its simply the coolest scoot around...put some sticks on it and its wacko...but if the roads are bumpy, then any link type suspension scoots(nova,activa,dio..) r miserable

If scoots is ur decision why not go in for aviator (its comfy, dives like bike(same front susp), xtremely reliable)...I would personally go in for the Access ( excellent torque n acc., gr8 build quality, bike comfort) but looks r very dull... or the girlish flyte (massive tanker storage + gr8 engine)

Bottomline: If u need a vehicle for the way u mentioned (& u plan to buy a bike after 1~2 yrs) then why not go in for ur dio or better still aviator/access (they r still cheaper than FZ 16)...

But else if ur not buying a bike BECAUSE of gear fright...get a bike buddy ( FZ/GS/uni/Hunk,rtr...) because its so damn easy, promise Finally decide where ur focus lies & then decid...Cheerio

                      BTW if

U want acc., with style and less vibs + brand : FZ 16 nothing else
U want acc., mileage, and sound (+vibs): RTR nothing else
                      U want bit of everything + comfort : Hunk/CBZ-Xtreme
U want absolute cruise(80+),comfort & mileage: GS nothing else
                      style,no vibs

Unicorn(like GS) is also gr8 in above qualities...but is outdated in features and seems not that lively in looks for U...

I seriously dont think u gotta buy a rtr 180, ZMA or P200 right now...Not that they are difficult (have driven them all) but unless u r tuned to geared biking ( not goin from A 2 B, rather experience) its useless getting a higher powered bike ( = low mileage (sorry even FZ), costlier spares, & bikers feel odd seeing U(they dunno u r newbie) driving them slowly...To compensate u drive fast w/o exp...its dangerous)

Just my 50 cents...go with ur heart

Do not worry/fear about moving from a gearless scooter to a RTR/Zma/Fz after all these are not 1000CC mills pumping 160+Bhp 300KM/hr missiles .

Im 19 years old, skinny(47 kgs,5'5 in height).Im planning to buy either dio or Fz.But importantly I learnt to drive a geared bike only 2 weeks ago(i was riding on a gearless one before).

                          My limitations are..
                          1. I still haven't reached perfection riding a bike(geared only!)
                          2. I'm worried if Fz looks too macho for a skinny guy like me.
                          3. I need something which is durable.
                          4. Im a college going guy so looks are important.

Even though i have made up my mind on either dio or fz other suggestions would be welcome.

And people tell me its not worth it buying a bike which costs 75k and giving the same mileage as a dio which is 60% the cost of fz.

I do have mileage in consideration.

I disagree with your explanation. Weight and gear change ratios of the bike are an issue, but he has to learn some day. It took me only about 4-5 days to get used to my FZ's weight and gear change ratios, and the only experience I had was 5 early morning sessions on my cousin's Pulsar150.
My advice for Pali : Yeah, it may feel very difficult at first, but don't give up. 2 months in, you will feel like its a part of your body

Though I agree with you on CBF Stunner. Its the perfect bike for college-goers. Awesome looks, great mileage, not very expensive, although the exhaust sounds a bit girl-ish

i think you didn't read my post seriously bro he is 47kg not 65-70kg riding at speeds of 60 and above he will get distracted from air + the bike weight & to come over this problem he had to drive like a moto-gp rider i am not saying that don't buy a bike but i am saying that go for less bulky bikes & (now bro you will say FZ is not bulky it feels light its lighter for you not for him who have LEARNT TO RIDE A BIKE ONLY 2 WEEKS AGO) bro i am riding bike more then 5 years...it's not about FZ's but it is about weight..for the beginner 125cc is good option...or its depend on him....

now here i disagree with your explanation sounds a bit girl-ish means that the bike is for girls it is 125 but it's only 2bhp less then your rocket perfect looks for college guys +seating position + efficiency & parents pocket if the exhaust sounds a bit girl-ish please suggest the owner to go for yoshimura exhaust....

in bangalore Dio is fine, at Delhi dio guys are tagged as gays or fattos the whole point what is distance u need to cover and how much traffic on open roads nothing beats a bike but in traffic i feel dio is better.

@zayn weight and bike issue is the biggest BS i have ever heard, which company specifies minimum weight, don't you see 7th class guys riding chetak? or Pulsar? i wonder if they hardly weight more than 40 kg, as far as experience go's well that depends, you cannot learn to ride if you do not fall if u do not ride a bike now, after 6 yrs u will again post that u grew from DIO.

The point is how much you travel, and what you feel is comfortable. Bike is good for open roads but scooter is good for traffic and rush hour as no gear changes.
