The only chicnk in the R15's armour for me would be it's capacity of handling bad roads, Off road's and Dirt and under these conditions the RTR would handle much better i feel. In other words the RTR is a more versatile mobike.

Well i do ride a RTR 180(my brothers) and i can tell you that it has covered all the boxes ticked be it performance, handling, mileage etc etc.

Now coming to R15, 2nd hand bikes have always been a risky proposition but then when you are actually shelling out 70-80k(which is a lot), the risk factor goes further up.So decide accordingly and do find a proper service history of the bike and yeah do ride the bike for a couple of kms to identify any indifference in handling as compared to a new one. It's almost new as it has covered only 4000kms...but then!!

Riding a 180 would make you feel that you are actually riding a much much faster bike and the handling and braking is top-notch.Yeah, the rubbers are not as great as the R15 but then they are not that bad, either. You can always switch to a newer one, later!! One thing i would like to mention about the 180 is the torque, no matter which gear or what speeds you are doing it has a wave which could keep you at the edge of your seats. The midrange power is almost as much as the P220 Fi and that is a "LOT"!!

Oops.... my mistake...i didnt explain my point properly.
what i meant to say is that the "look" factor of a bike (if it pulls you) is only temporary. once you start owning it...other things like performance, handling, comfort, ride quality, aerodynamics(for me), etc become more important than just looks. The visual appearence becomes secondary later on...as compared to the other qualities that the bike has.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

I would say that you should go for a brand new bike anyday because its power response and handling gets carved according to your riding style in a few weeks. Plus i'd say that the low and mid end throttle response of RTR is extremely good for city riding. You won't be able to enjoy the R15 if u r unable to whack the engine to about 6k rpm. Handling-wise R15 is the best but RTR is not far behind.... it handles nearly as good.
I can tell you all this because i just bought a new bike after trying a lot of bikes. I bought a 220 because it has the low end torque of RTR and the top end is nearly as good as R15 (could not say about the top end performance because i test drove these bikes in city)
So, finally i think u should buy the brand new RTR or a P220(even though u don't like p220, i'd suggest a test ride because a lot of R15 owners loved the 220 as well).

why dont u give pulsar 220 a try?!
            it has low,mid range torque...
and also is faster than r15 (i assume)..
but doesnt handle as good as the r15 & the rtr...
            pulsar 220 dts-fi clocks 145kmph!

Listen to your heart... take a test ride of that second hand R15 and seal the deal if it's good condition.. I've made two lines in your own explanation Bold because it says it all.. you rode RTR180 also and after riding R15 you said you've never enjoyed anything like that before..
              You said it all...

From your first post i think you've already made up your mind . Take an independent mechanics opinion on the bike though before finalising the deal.

First of all don't get bowled over by one particular aspect (like looks, top speed etc) and test drive the bikes as extensively as you can.

Now I'm sure both bikes have there drawbacks when compared with each other but picking out those drawbacks which really matter to you will be helpful in making the right choice. Like many people have suggested r15 is not great in when the roads are bad, you check what regular routes which you will commute on (like from you home to college or to some places where you go with friends), if the roads are friendly enough for R15 then one of your drawbacks can be considered negligible. Similarly you can go like this over other issues like driving in traffic, etc. If you yourself are satisfied that you won't be having much of a problem with the R15's drawbacks then go for it.

I'm assuming here that a 4k km run R15 is almost good as new. Do the necessary to get it verified.

.............Many votes going in RTR favour....
anyways, i am going to see the bike tomorrow morning, will keep you people updated ...

Secondly, my back ached very badly last night...Is R15's ergonomics a problem???..i feel so....but the RTR is nothing good in comparison too...

A unicorn is a best buy(i was thinking this last night)...but who cares about his back when you have 17 horses and loads of torque to play with!!!
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

Hey..no offence to any P220 owner and yaar who told you i don't like Pulsars..
See,it's just that i find it hard to handle Pulsars...High speed cornering needs a lot lot confidence and AP*...
And that is why pulsar is out of my list.Otherwise, a real biker would never love or hate his ride by the fancy name and stickers on its tank...

*AP...i hope you know what is it???

Dude! not trying to influence your decision because i have a pulsar. I have suggested this because even i thought on the same lines..... raw unusable power and bad handling and thus hadn't considered pulsar for my new bike. But to tell you my experience - all these myths were shattered when i test drove it.... came back with a face like and ended up buying the pulsar instead of R15. I suggested only the TEST DRIVE man!! anyways, u don't have to be influenced by anyone here..... use our suggestions to evaluate your test drive and then make your own decision.

And yeah.... enlighten me on the AP stuff!!
                          Cheers

Okay brother!!..you mean to say to go and testride the P220 and then final my bike....As you've mentioned a few good points i am sure going to do that soon...

And about AP-it's a self derived power figure in human beings like in bikes...
Just try figure out the full form of these two words and then translate it to Hindi!!!...thats not too much asking...ya??
If there's still a doubt then let me know??

Went to see the condition of the bike later this evening..
It looked good. I mean there were a few scratches on the fairing which are hardly noticeable.Took it for a spin but i felt it's handlebar a bit too heavy and was not giving me the feel i get from my friend's R15.The odo read a surprising 5600km mark contrary to what i've been told by the mechanic....And the most crucial part is it's accidental...the tank has been changed under insurance.About the deal, the guy was not coming down from his 80K mark.Overall, i felt a new bike would be a better bet and my dad also has the same views...So i think i am going for the RTR180,finally.

Hmmm..though i love the baby R1 but my pocket is not allowing me to do so...But then i've my friend's R15 to thrash in exchange of my RTR.....

Thanks to all Xbhpians who suggested me an gave me useful tips and advices...
