Theoretically you can tour on anything, but if you just see - RTR is more of sporty bike than a tourer.

You could do touring in any bike provided you should have stamina & love your ride & you may come accross a guy touring on his platina ridden 2k kms...So Apache would fulfill your needs...But when it comes to dedicated touring ZMA stands apart ...

MYstIC AdVeNturer, RTR is a street bike best used when rev'd/ridden hard. Check out it's riding posture, it's not comfortable for long cruises. But FYI, there are many people who tour on puny 100cc bikes, it's all about biker's spirit. If you wanna tour only on RTR then go for it !!!
If you are open to few more choices I would suggest you Fazer/GSR150 which are good for touring. Uni is kind of all in one bike, it can fit into any roles w/o any fuss. Xtreme/Hunk are also capable tourers.

FYI, RTR160 sales is stopped, only RTR180 is available (as per TVS website)

Well I have ridden 850 kms at a stretch on it.And I wasnt any more tired than I would be on any other bike.
I dont see any problems touring on it,except that you have keep always keep it in the powerband, means keep shifting gears.

Have done quiet a bit of tours. I never felt uncomfortable.

I never had any pains evn after riding 600+ kms while my frined here who has a RTR says his back pains even after a short 100kms ride!

You can take any bike anywhere. What matter most is your comfort level with the bike.Test ride the bike and see with which bike you more comfortable with!

You can happily cruise at 110-115kmph all day if you can bear the vibrations. Comfortable crusing speed is between 95-105kmph!

I say go for the 180 if u intend to ride more on the highway!

ps - i am 6feet tall and i like a little crouch position so maybe because of that

once you cross 75kmph or as long as you stay below 65 the bike is a crazy REVing machine !! but between these two speeds the bike behaves like a vibrator

As satish said go for the 180 if you intend to ride more on the highways. The touring capabilities(read fatigue etc etc) also depends a lot on your body frame.Tall guys like me will definitely find the riding position to be a lil crouched...

                        IMO 160-yellow/matt gray,180-white/matt gray
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

                            ^^Nops, he is kidding!!

Go for Apache only if you like it, but if it comes to serious touring capabilities then nothing better than ZMA/P220. Lots of torque and stress free riding position(ZMA) are some positive points about these bikes.Test ride and decide between the two.

FYI,RTR180 is a more stress free machine at high speeds than the 160.

If you buy any bike out of your love for it, u cant/wont find any problems with it. Yes you can tour on RTR as well as rip it on street or track ,and it ll be faithful to you. I have done quite a number of short trips and i find it comfortable with it but once my friends ride it, they start finding complaints.
The choice of colour is upto you buddy..its your personal decision and why do you want us to decide on that?Go for the one your heart says.
