First of all welcome to xbhp. And nice to hear about you getting a T'bird for your hubby...IMO T'bird TBTS is a bullet with comparatively less maintainence.Should cost you around 1.1 lacs.I'm not going to dwell on about this coz there are other bulleters who can help you a lot more...The link given by dual disc should help you I believe

i have a thunderbird and it is a lovely bike

          currently i have TB(thunderbird) 2007 model
in past i had TB 2004 model

if you want to purchase thunderbird new model(2009)
please do ask ur husband if he like bullet or karizma

because new thunderbird does not give pleasure of riding a royal enfield.
          i will explain
you know that bullet sound is dug dug dug dug dug
royal enfield is known for this dug dug sound
this sound is totally missing in new thunderbird(2009 model) because it have a different engine

and if your husband is a hard core royal enfield lover please do not go for thunderbird new model rather you should gift him bullet machizmo 500
or if he like sports bike gift him pulsar 220 or karizma both of them are ultimate bikes and fits comfortably in ur budget

          hope you got my point
because if he likes sports bike he will be disappointed with royal enfield
and if he like royal enfield he will be disappointed with pulsar or karizma

As amandeep said , if you want the feel of the classic RE , it has to be the Machismo 500 . But if it can be any RE then Thunderbird will be the better choice.

Did your hubby ever mentioned why he wants to own a RE bullet? That could help in deciding which one you should buy.

no doubt thunderbird is very good looking bike
but as i told you it does not give pleasure of riding a royal enfield
                  i am riding RE
and take my words new thunderbird is not a real royal enfield
most of the bullet enthusiast got disappointed after riding thunderbird twin spark

                  please go for machismo 500
involve your husband in bike chat and ask him about machizmo 500

                  you will get your answer

                  check this link http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/thumpers...o-500-a-6.html

                  this is machismo 500
you can ask niks devil666 about this bike
a true royal enfield lover can not live without this one

not at all it gives very good mileage 40+ i say
and there are no such season for bikes especially in case of RE
RE dealers have lots of ego they dont even compel you to buy there bikes like other dealers

tell me have you seen any add on TV??????
RE does not need any it is already very famous
