I know, that budget is low and second hand seems to be the easiest option.. But I don't like second hand bikes.

Also, here the requirment of the rider is different.. She likes touring with me as a pillion and want to ride a tourer herself and ultimately a RE (over a 5year timeframe).
But her riding experience has been close to zero.. so want to invest in a low cost scooty, which will give her traffic sense.. so budzet is low.. we won't be using it for ANYTHING except 15KM daily.

So what are our options now .. scooty Teenz.. whats the price for that?
I still suggest you second hand Honda scooter. Honda engines are very good (like new) even after two years.

In your budget you will not get any tourer scooter. Better you realize it and accept it. Even if you discuss for two pages, things will remain same.

touring and scooty teenz in the same sentence dont go well.I suggested it because the name of the thread was "gearless scooter for daily commuting"...It's better if you go in for a second hand scooter then like everyone here suggested.
guys guys ! please read carefully what the thread starter has written.! He says his wife likes touring and that she would like to join him in a RE in 5 year time period and since she is new to wheeler he says she needs a cheap 2 wheeler to first get used to the traffic and road sense . he has also said that daily commute requirement is only 10 kms..

BTW scooty teenz comes in both as electric and as a 2 stroke.

      @ the thread starter.

go for the scooty teenz . Its the only gearless scooter under your budget. Its basically the old scooty engine which was available before the 4stroke scooty pep was launched

          @amulu10,
thanks for understanding the requirement MAN!

had a long talk with my wife.. reached conclusion.. we would talk more after two weeks as we are more confused now ..

          Plan till now:
buy a second hand scooty(I don't like this)/ or new scooty teenz. Get traffic sense.. and on our weekend rides on my P150, we will keep switching as rider and pillion
and in some years, with some saving here and there can buy a brand new RE (here too i don't like second hand)..

Right now, We have decided to give it couple of weeks more and then decide ..

            Nithin: I suggest following things,
            1. Increase budget for Pleasure by 8K (New Scooter will not give any issues for 2 years with avg. maintainence, your wife will not be inconvinienced (In Pune and other cities, roadside repair is Free if the vehicle is registered in your wife's name, No free roadside breakdown svc if Pleasure registered in men's name)
            2. Go for IInd hand Activa (2003/2004 models should be available for less than 25K), IInd hand Activas are very reliable with regular maintainence.
            3. You can consider well maintained Kinetic, which according to me was 'Zero maintainence' scooter, but sadly now the maintainence is quite high.
            4. Never go for Scooty, it's good for less than one year, ask few older owners yourself on road/in your neighbourhood...you'll get the truth.

If your budget is tight go for IInd hand Activa, it's worthy deal compared to high priced punny TVS scooties (with worst reliability).

              Hi,

My suggestion as per my understanding of the requirement and given budget.

              TVS Scooty/HH Pleasure, Brand New.

In case there is a Hike in Budget, go for Activa.

Going in for a second hand scooty is asking for trouble, its bound to have a lot of issues.

Honestly I don't know much about scooters.. but TVS is a big name is scooters especially the small ones.. and at your budget, the 2 stroke Teenz should fit your bill perfectly.
